Jon Snow - who could be more admirable and just than the thought to be bastard son of Winterfell and heir to the iron throne. Jon is a natural born leader and at every different stage of his journey he seems to inspire and lead those around him, like when He joined armies that had been staunch enemies for the ages to fight a common enemy. His ending was slightly less than satisfying, but what did we expect? |

Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, First of Her Name, Rightful Heir to the Iron Throne, the Rightful Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Protector of the Seven Kingdoms, the Mother of Dragons, the Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, the Unburnt, and the Breaker of Chains. I had to go with the full title for effect. Like her or not, you cannot argue with her accomplishments and the power she wielded. Unfortunately she ended up a little too much like her predecessor which evidently cost her the throne. Howver cannot argue with her accomplishments and dominance throughout Westeros. | |

Ned Stark - Although Neds time in the series was short lived, his influence was not. His nobility and honour well outlived his time, but unfortunately it was that nobility and honour that ended up getting him killed. He never wanted to be hand of the king and was warned of the danger going to the capital but is loyalty to his friend and the king overcame all warnings. |

Rob Stark - Following the murder of his father, Rob grew up real quick. He banded the North together and was therefor names the king in the north and the Young Wolf. It was all looking like Rob had the allies and will to take it to the capital and the Lannister's. That was until the Red Wedding... Perhaps one of the most shocking television episodes of all time. |

The Night King - The leading of the army of the dead and the bringer of the long night, although he is not a nice person, it is undeniable he is a bad ass. Those scenes where the men have been fighting the dead and are on the verge of them all dying themselves and they think they have won, until the Night King slowly raises him arms not only all of his original soldiers begin to rise, but also all the slain men begin to rise too and he has just doubled his army. Definitely a jaw dropping moment. We have spoken about the mother of dragons, but we can't forget that the Night King snagged himself a dragon as well, which was the main and only reason they were able to bring down to wall of the Nights Watch. If it wasnt for the next person mentioned who knows how far the Night King would have conquered. |

Arya Stark - The unsung hero of the whole saga, who pretty much single handedly took down the knight king, when no one else could even get close to him. Her story is definitely a unique one. Leaving Westeros and her family behind in pursuit of next level training, with one goal in mind. Revenge. From what I have seen she will be getting her own spin of series about her adventures after the Game of Thrones. |

Tyrion Lannister - Tyrion has to be one of my favourite characters. He doesn't win his battles by strength in combat, but with his cunning mind. Almost like a chess match but with unpredictable pieces. He is a survivor and definitely went through his fair share of trials and tribulations, almost not making it through many of them. However, he always seemed to prevail and his worth was recognised by many due to that skillset but also his true moral compass. |

Breanne of Tarth - One who loves an oath, and hates breaking them. She is one of the better warriors and most noble knights in Westeros. Having made her life missions to uphold an oath she gave to Katlyn Stark to protect her daughters, which she was able to more or less accomplish. A true battle tested warrior who is maybe the only one known, to single handedly defeat the Hound in one on one combat, which is no small feat. |

Jamie Lannister - This one might be controversial,l he is in love with his sister and have multiple children born of incest, he killed the Mad king who he was sworn to protect (although he did the right thing) and he pushed Bran Stark out of a window after he caught him with Cersei, but Jamie has one of the most interesting character arcs of any person in Game of Thrones. He starts of as entitled and arrogant, but due to what he goes through he becomes humble, loyal and gains a sense of duty and honour. He abandons his sister and the capital to fight for what he knows is right along side his brother and the 'enemy'. He ends up being one of my more liked characters. |

Khal Drogo - Although his time in the series is short lived, he packed a punch while there. Just an impressive specimen who owned his screen time. Another shocking death in game of thrones fashion, just as you think Drogo and Khalesi are going to take their hoards to Westeros and wreak havoc, he has a swift decline at the hands of a witch doctor. I may be wrong, but I feel this role really put Jason Mamoa on the map. |

The Hound, Gregor Clegane - Another one with an amazing character arc, who starts off as just a classic brute, he begins to show signs of a heart when he looks Sansa Stark when she is at the mercy of the then dreadful king, Joffrey. He then leaves the capital and goes on a long journey, a lot of with Arya Stark, who become somewhat unconventional companions, whose paths were always destined to intertwine again. At his core the Hound was driven by revenge towards his brother, the Mountain, who although in a grousome ending, it was nice to see him get his peace. |

Jorah Mormont - An honourable man, who falls in love and would do anything to protect that love, unfortunately the love is not reciprocated. Although he is getting on in age, he is a fierce warrior and truly battle tested. He survives grayscale, which is unknown if that has been done before, which was not an easy task. |

Samwell Tarly - What a loyal and dependable friend Sam was to Jon Snow. But he was not only that, he is also part of the reason why they were able to actually put up a fight against the Night King and the army of the dead. He was the one who discovered dragon glass can kill them. He single handedly saved Jorah Mormonts life by ridding him of grey scale. And, he also discovered the secret heritage of Jon Snow, which would change the course of events ahead. Not to mention he was a caring partner and loving father. | |

Davos Seaworth - The Onion Knight is also one of my favourite characters. He is a level headed loyal companion, who speaks the truth but is also very in tune with what is going on around him. He is a self made man, who came from nothing and became an all time smuggler, which seemed to land him in multiple positions of power where he was a trusted advisor. |

Lord Varys - He is another one with a decent character arc. Unsure of whether to trust him early on, but you realise that he does actually have the good of the realm at heart, and wants it in the hands of the best candidate. He manages to influence this by knowledge and knowledge alone. I don't recall if ever seen carrying a weapon, instead he wields his little spiders that crawl around Westeros and beyond listening and reporting. His demise came because he did betray his queen, but in his mind and mine, he did it for the right reasons. |

Bronn - Brown offers some nice comic relief and a nice change a pace from all the highborns squabbling with each other. Bronn knows how to fight and everyone needs friends who know how to fight. He first made his great friend when he volunteered to fight for Tyrion in a combat by trial. There is no nobility in dying, so why fight fair, was how he lived and survived so long. Which seemed to work because his fighting ended up making him a Lord with land a titles. |

Sansa Stark - I doubt she is anyones favourite character, but as a naive young girl wanting to be a princess, she was forced to grow up awfully quick and not in a good way. She watched and heard almost all her family members die while being imprisoned by the very thing she thought she wanted as a young girl. Fortunately all those that wronged her got their just desserts, and she grew in to a tough leader of the North. |

Bran Stark, Bran the Broken, The one eyed raven - Bran, had a very interesting story. One that saw him go on his journey far from any of the other main characters, and far from what anyone else may of ever done. Bran became the one eyed raven, almost the librarian of all that ever was. Knowing the history of what was and what will be. Although he never wanted the thrown he was appointed for that very reason. |

Oberyn Martell - One of the cooler character in the series. He came onto the screen with a bang, wanting revenge against the Lannisters for their crimes against his family, more specifically against the Mountain. Through his own design he found himself up against The Mountain in a trial by combat, which litterally had me yelling on the couch, "STOP TOYING WITH HIM AND FINISH IT", then moments later, "NOOOOOOO, YOU FOOL". Was an incredible fight scene and another classic game of thrones sequence of events. I may be wrong, but I feel this also put Pedro Pascal on the map too. |

Podrick Payne - You gotta love Pod. I can't recall how exactly, but ended up being Tyrions squire and saved his life in battle, and from then on he was just good to have around. He ended up with Breanne of Tarth, and she fond of his company. He was eventually knighted for all his good deeds. The girls in the brothel also loved him. |

Hodor - The movable giant who I doubt Bran would have survived without. He has always been there for the Starks, and through Brans abilities of the one eyed raven we were able to see exactly why he is the way he is, which is no surprise that it stemmed from loyalty and servitude. Fun side fact, the actor is actually a somewhat successful DJ in Europe, Im sure his role in the show helped that. |

Theon Greyjoy - Mixed feelings with Theon. Was a bit of a brat early on. Then became an asshole when he betrayed the Starks. Then we felt sorry for him after he was tortured and completed broken by Ramsey Bolton. He realised his wrongs and did all he can to rectify them, by helping his sister get back the Iron Islands and also rescue Sansa Stark. He died protecting Bran and fighting for his own redemption. |

Melisandre - The Red Queen, I think the consensus is that we don't like her at the start, we question the whole lord of the light thing, but the longer it goes on the more it shows itself. However she does seem to put her faith in a few dud candidates along the way, but maybe that is the events the lord of light needed to unfold. However towards the end I like where she ended up and where her faith lied. |

Grand Maester Pycelle - A bit of a bumbling fool Pycelle is. Granted he obviously has some experience as a Maester, but he quickly falls out of favour with Cersei and hold no influence with anyone. The scene where he has bed a lady, and following he then puts on his robes and chains while also putting on his decrepit posture and limp act sums him up. It appears he is bit of a yes man which has kept him in his position longer than his worth would predict. |

Shae - I started off liking her. thinking she was genuine, and that Tyrion had finally found love in a very loveless world for him. However that did not eventuate and again he was betrayed by his own family and his love. He tried to get her out of the devilish game of the iron throne, but to no prevail. He unfortunately had to end their relationship by his own hands. |

Gregor 'The Mountain' Clegane - Dubbed the Mountain for obvious reasons as he is a mountain of a man. Portrayed in the episodes where he fights Oberyn by Worlds Strongest Man competitor, Hafpor Bjornsson, which was a cool cameo. He becomes almost a zombie slave to Cersei after the poison from that battle almost kills him. He remained by her side until the end serving as one scary body guard. I think everyone was happy when the Hound finally got his revenge. |

Ramsey Bolton - Another brilliantly portrayed characters, whose sick and twisted mind was on full display when he brutally tortured and moulded Theon into his own little pet, Reke. His demise came in a fitting fashion, by another one that he had his fun tormenting in Sansa Stark. Side note; if anyone has watched another show, The Misfits, the actor is great in that too! |

Peter 'Littlefinger' Baelish - Littlefinger is as cunning and conniving as they come. You never know whether you should trust him or not, or whether he is actually helping someone else or not, but one thing you learn is that he never does anything that does not help him or help his standing. Credit given that he is a self made man. First made a name for himself as a successful brothel owner, which gave him knowledge and power to work his way into politics. Unfortunately the lies and deception eventually caught up with him. |

Cersei Lannister - Another character that is very well portrayed and makes the audience hate them. There are moments of weakness when you catch yourself empathising with her, but then she goes and does something to make you hate her again. Can't fault her strength and determination though. She remains in power some way or another for a long time. | |

Joffrey Lannister - Maybe the most hated TV character of all time. Credit to the actor who portrayed him, he did an incredible job, because Joffrey was almost unbearable to watch at times. He was a weak, cruel, slimy little weasel, who deserved his ending. The scene were his father, the hand of the king tells him to go to bed at a council meeting is gold, and he responds but I am not tired, like the little brat he was. |
