Phoenix Suns - Power Ranking
All RankingsPhoenix just never looked comfortable, which you could argue is often the case for the Laddas led team as he never met a trade talk he didn't like. Couple that either win injuries, or because of injuries and the Suns fell into that hole of being unsure what to exactly do and then that meant they have basically been the 2nd worst team in the land for most of the year before getting some extra wins down the stretch as others tanked their way below them. They may yet finish bottom of the West as the Wolves have Davis back this week and might surprise some teams. That said, they have stayed true to Sharpe who looks like a star, they have 2 1sts this year, they have a franchise cornerstone C in the making and some other sweet younger pieces, and Bradley Beal may yet become a trade chip or a useful scorer too. One thing is for certain, half of this roster won't be on the roster by the start of next season and the Suns will be pushing for playoffs as always.
G’day! How the fuck are you going? I don’t take life too seriously and make decisions on the fly a lot of the time, seeing where the wind will take me. That can be a hard sell but there is constant inspiration, opportunity and potential within that lifestyle (of not being tied down). And my positive attitude and resilience means there is always something to focus on and build. Want to take a chance and see where it ends up?! There must be a bar around here?!
Silent Rage - There’s something under the surface here, but it’s not translating to wins.
Toy Story - "To infinity and beyond!" Buzz Lightyear arrived convinced he was a real Space Ranger, this team arrived convinced this was the year everything clicked. The youth movement is real, the star is shining bright and like Andy's bedroom, there's a lot of good stuff happening under the surface. But Woody keeps getting left behind, Buzz doesn't know he's a toy yet, and Sid next door (the suns first holder) is enjoying himself at their expense. Give them time. The sequel is going to be better than the original. But for now? You've got a friend in me, just not a playoff spot.
The 'HOW MANY CUPS OF COFFEE' Teacher A total rebuild turned success story - flying high with Shaedon Sharpe, Kristaps Porziņģis, Grayson Allen, and Ayo Dosunmu. Still figuring things out, but trending up fast. Think Fry (Futurama) '100 cups of coffee' level impact.
Started with Monk/Okoro... For this one I want to highlight a series of small deals over the course of a season from our boy Laddas. Wanting to shine light on it as the perfect example as to how this guy manages to turn franchises around. Monk and Okoro netted him Vassel. Vassel straight up for RJ followed by RJ for Lopez and NAW... 4 or 5 smaller came shortly after, passing off players not in the long term plans for draft capital. The end result for Monk and Okoro? Ayo/DLO/Conley/1st/6x 2nds. That's elite dealing right there and as a serial trade pest myself, it's important to remember where you started from. Regardless of wether you took a couple of slight L's along the way.
ordering food and they get the order wrong - Imagine this, you've been craving this food all day or all week, and finally get it. You give your order to the staff member and pay. You wait with anticipation till your food gets made and given to you. You bring get it to go, so you can eat it in the comfort of your own home. You get set up on the couch with a TV show you're bing watching. You open the bag and realise the order is all wrong and not at all what you ordered or wanted... A wave of emotions hits you, anger, frustration, rage and regret. You can't be bothered gong back so you eat the meal anyway. Thats kinda how The Suns season has gone. Expecing something but getting another, mainly on the injury front. They can't seem to stay healthy, hopefully the meal they end up eating is still tasty.
Phoenix has been making a flurry of trades over the last month or so, trying to climb out of the pits of the NSL. It has not paid off quite yet, but the determination Laddas shows is commendable.
Crash (2005) – messy, confusing, and it feels like something is always going wrong. It is an upswing for the Suns, and GM Laddas would be loving this win, in the face of adversity, and tough competition. Akin to Crash winning best film, the sum of the parts is coming together, it's all about view and perspective. Is it the crash? Is it the aftermath? Have the pieces been put together again?
A rough start to the year, it's good to see them go over .500 in their last 12 games. They don't own their pick, so they have every incentive to push for wins.
The Janitor- Used to mopping up other people's shit, the janitor is a quintessential yet unglamorous member of the school community. Always working overtime and stressed out by the mess 'these damn kids' made, if he's not excelling in his role the school will see enrollments plummit. Outside of his job he has heaps of crazy hobbies that no one knows about and will figure it out once one of them become his forever job.
Wile E. Coyote - Plans look good… results don’t. High expectations, execution falling off the cliff. The Suns have been a mismatch in Season 25-26 for the most part. Injured or undermanned. Underprepared or lacking the talent to mix it. GM Laddas will always plan ahead and seek to get an edge.
Bad Day – Daniel Powter Reflective and empathetic, it captures setbacks and resilience. The theme mirrors a team facing rough patches but persevering through adversity. A team that battles through constant set backs, Laddas powers on ahead trying to drag the injury riddled suns to victory
Finch: The Suns are a team full of potential but still finding their identity, much like Finch in their prime. GM Laddas is active, and young talents like Shaedon Sharpe provide sparks of excitement, but the roster lacks the depth and cohesion to compete. Finch’s post-hardcore was energetic, dynamic, and emotionally charged, yet often felt unfinished - a perfect mirror for a Suns team capable of stunning bursts of brilliance but still searching for the structure and experience needed to turn promise into wins.
The Hanged Man: Represents surrender, pause, and seeing things from a new angle. Change occurs through letting go. Laddas had his plans ripped to shreds when Dame's achilles was ripped to shreds. He made the best of a bad hand and has taken a swing on some high upside youth.
Right, look at the Phoenix Suns. One win. One. Come on Lad boy, he is walking around smiling like he’s top of the conference. He’s looking at the standings upside down like a man trying to read IKEA instructions without his glasses.
Childhood Reference: The Hungry Hungry Hippo who never gets any marbles. The board shakes, the pieces fly, but Devin Vassell just isn’t catching any breaks. Nor are the Suns organisation in Week 1. A rough start for the organisation in season 25-26, the Suns couldn't get anything going. Is it the broken neck mechanism on the Hippo? Is it a slant? Is it luck? Is it the roster? All the questions that GM Laddas desperately wants answers to!
