Brooklyn Nets - Power Ranking
Week | Rank | Rating | Team | Record | Comment |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
15 | 28 | 11 | Bkn | 3-9 | "Another Brick in the Wall, Part II" by Pink Floyd This song serves as a protest against rigid schooling systems and authoritarian control. Through its haunting melody and the children's chorus chanting "We don't need no education," it critiques the suppression of individuality and promotes the importance of creative freedom in education. Brooklyn is doing their best to buck the trend and win with well rounded all stars and rather than go all in on the biggest superstars in the league. Creative build is the word here, we will see how it goes to close the season. |
14 | 19 | 37 | Bkn | 5-7 | 19. Brooklyn Nets (Turkey) The Nets' 'strategic location' in a major market is similar to Turkey's 'crossroads economy,' aiming to leverage their 'position' for 'economic growth' despite 'regional challenges.' Akin to Turkey, instability, and civil unrest has left the team unsure of itself. Injury riddled. Losing abundant. The Nets are idle. |
13 | 22 | 35 | Bkn | 5-8 | Catapult- The Catapult is dangerous from long range and can be incredibly destructive. They can take a while to load and require a lot of work to get going but if used effectively they will leave destruction behind. GM Breece is putting it all in the bucket and loading up for the backend of this season, I wonder whether he breaks through the wall! |
12 | 27 | 12 | Bkn | 3-10 | Brooklyn Nets - "Barbie Girl" – Aqua (1997) A kitschy dance-pop hit, but very divisive, the Nets seem that team that some people either think is performing as expected or underperforming. One thing is certain, they cannot stay on the court - they need to be put in plastic, shrink wrap and bubble wrap to avoid hospitalisation. There seems to be no hanky-panky here - they continue to sit at the bottom of the league looking up. But are they just getting started? |
11 | 30 | -10 | Bkn | 1-12 | Brooklyn Nets: The Giant Rat Pack 🐀🗡️ Why? The Nets scurry like a pack of Giant Rats – a nuisance that nibbles at victories but lacks the bite to contend. Their roster is a swarm of mid-tier talent, overwhelming through sheer numbers rather than star power. Alpha Rat (Zach LaVine) 🐀👑: LaVine is the pack’s sharp-toothed leader, capable of explosive scoring runs but prone to vanishing when the lights brighten. Plague Carriers (Brandon Ingram & Lauri Markkanen) 🦠: Ingram and Markkanen infect defenses with sporadic scoring, but their impact is diluted by inconsistency. Markkanen’s 7’0” frame is a wobbly tower of threes and rebounds. Swarm Tactics (Young & Role Players) 🐀🐀: Dereck Lively II and Patrick Williams nip at opponents with energy, but their efforts rarely translate to meaningful advantages. Rookie Jakobe Walter scurries underfoot, hoarding steals like stolen crumbs. |
10 | 30 | -8 | Bkn | 1-11 | A Busted Net in the Local School - We all know that net you avoid. Only used on the weekend for a shoot-around if ABSOLUTELY necessary. Noone has cared for it in years, and the school has left it there as a symbol of all that is wrong with the world. This is the Brooklyn Nets. What more can go wrong? Tattered. A shell of its self. Battered. The Nets are without starting lineup players, Zach Lavine (newly acquired), Brandon Ingram, and Derrick Lively - three players they desperately would want back on the court. This old net has seen better days. But right now, they are left neglected - who knows maybe the principal changed it to a new one (Murray to Lavine) |
9 | 26 | 6 | Bkn | 2-10 | Gregor 'The Mountain' Clegane - Dubbed the Mountain for obvious reasons as he is a mountain of a man. Portrayed in the episodes where he fights Oberyn by Worlds Strongest Man competitor, Hafpor Bjornsson, which was a cool cameo. He becomes almost a zombie slave to Cersei after the poison from that battle almost kills him. He remained by her side until the end serving as one scary body guard. I think everyone was happy when the Hound finally got his revenge. |
8 | 27 | 8 | Bkn | 2-10 | |
7 | 29 | 5 | Bkn | 2-10 | The Three Little Pigs (Brooklyn) Dependable builders who outwit a wolf and teach a lesson in preparation. What material should we build with next? This seems to be the issue of the Nets, as they continue to be unable to make it happen. Sure they have been prepared, and sure they are in a promising position with their talents, and picks, but what is the end-game? Sure they might outwit a wolf or two, but the ultimate outcome is one of self-preservation. Murray is made of hay, Lauri is made of Sticks, and BI is currently an unlaid brick. |
6 | 30 | -7 | Bkn | 1-11 | Alfredo Linguini (Ratatouille) - Boy oh boy, it's not a good place to find yourself, at 30 in the Power Rankings. Especially when you have about 6 players rated 80+. I acknowledge there have been injuries for the Nets, but the time to ask the question is upon us: what are the Nets doing with their lives, and who is pulling the strings. In Ratatouille, Alfredo is a hapless bumbling busboy in a world-class restaurant, unable to perform even the simplest of tasks. It just takes a moment, a relationship, an open-mindedness to discover the heights of what he can do. For now, Breece and the Nets are Alfredo before he meets Remy. They have the vehicle, but they don't know how to drive it or where they are driving too. |
5 | 27 | 2 | Bkn | 2-10 | Annie Wilkes (Misery) - A tenacious and unforgiving style, akin to Annie Wilkes, who becomes obsessed with her victims and will do anything to keep them from escaping. They linger in limbo with Lauri Markkanen unable to get going and Brandon Ingram injured. Much like Annie's devotion, the Nets have a GM who has tried everything over the years to make things happen. It can be overly zealous, with an overly offensive perspective akin to Wilkes. It seems to be that this chapter isn’t the right one and they are lucky to be alive with a record of 2-10. With frustration for their own face. “I’m your number one fan.” |
4 | 22 | 26 | Bkn | 4-8 | Mad Max - Mad Max. Filmed in the Australian Outback, Mad Max is the tale of a former police officer who seeks to take down a Motocycle gang. Man did it grow from there. It then escalated into a world on the verge of destruction which Max gets thrust into he fire. He comes up against some larger-than-life enemies, one being Tina Turner, which he is forced to take down. Although a lone traveller, he manages to find ways to help those in need around him. It is a very cool storyline and universe which has continued with two recent movies being made. |
3 | 26 | 25 | Bkn | 4-8 | Brooklyn has a solid team with a ton of depth. There’s no doubt that they’ll turn things around, but with Brandon Ingrams looming free agency, might we see Breece move him before the trade deadline? If so, does that signal a full rebuild? |
2 | 22 | 21 | Bkn | 3-5 | "No Sleep Till Brooklyn" - Beastie Boys- No sleep for Breece until he figures out this team, they are ultra talented, and he is switching things in the lineup each week trying to figure out what will work. Their top 3 guys are all scoring over 20 ppg, but the wins still aren't there yet. |
1 | 23 | 6 | Bkn | 1-3 | The Nets would have hoped for at least one more win last week, to demonstrate the strides they have taken as an organisation. They have a young and talented roster but may lack the true alpha to maximise the depth and talent they have. Is Brandon Ingram that guy? Is Jamal Murray not that guy? I feel the Nets will have some moves to make down the line. |
