Dallas Mavericks - Power Ranking

Week Rank Rating Team Record Comment
19 30 -15 Dal 0-12 Gangsta's Paradise – Coolio featuring L.V. "Gangsta's Paradise" is a powerful reflection on the struggles, fears, and harsh realities of life in inner-city neighborhoods. Coolio raps from the perspective of someone trapped in a cycle of violence and poverty, aware that their environment is destructive but feeling powerless to escape it. The song touches on themes of lost innocence, spiritual conflict, and societal neglect. It’s a sobering commentary on how systemic issues like crime and poverty limit opportunities and hope. The use of Stevie Wonder’s "Pastime Paradise" as the musical foundation adds a haunting, almost prayer-like mood, reinforcing the song's plea for understanding and change. Rather than glorifying the gangster lifestyle, "Gangsta’s Paradise" highlights its emptiness and the emotional toll it takes. It’s a deeply introspective track that forces listeners to confront uncomfortable truths about American society, making it one of the most meaningful rap songs of the 1990s. The emotional toll of being a Dallas fan this season is nearly over but the light is bright for the future as they continue to grow.
18 23 27 Dal 4-8 Whataburger – Only found in Texas, much like LJ, who’s only found in Smokey trades. Whataburger is well-known and beloved, just as LJ is a key part of the NSL, always appreciated for what he brings to the table.
17 20 37 Dal 5-7 The Pheonix - They have got raw power — but it’s wild, untamed. Through adversity, they're learning who you are. They can rise stronger, but only if they burn away what's holding them back. Transformation isn’t easy, but it’s beautiful - the new era of Mavericks looks toward next season - will they rise or stay within the embers.
16 14 48 Dal 6-6 A really odd season in Dallas, continues to bring about unpredictability. You just never know what you are going to get from the Mavs, much like their GM LJ. Mark Williams is an absolute monster in 2k, and my tip to be the next Andre Drummond. And there are nights when Miles Bridges looks like an unstoppable force. It feels like this team can win, and lose to anyone, on any given night. And while they are on the young side and with a lottery pick and some early 2nds in hand, its a fun ride in Dallas.
15 23 26 Dal 4-8 "Walk Like an Egyptian" by The Bangles A playful and catchy tune, this song describes people from various walks of life adopting the distinctive "Egyptian" walk. The lyrics celebrate individuality and the joy of expressing oneself freely, encouraging listeners to embrace their uniqueness and have fun without inhibition. A team and GM that plays and trade in their own unique way and without an inhibition. The league is a more interesting with Dallas in it.
14 20 37 Dal 5-7 20. Dallas Mavericks (Poland) The Mavericks' 'resilient economy' reflects Poland's 'steady growth,' focusing on 'infrastructure development' and 'human capital' to enhance their 'market position.' They run deep, and have seen an upswing in their investments - will it be brighter days in Dallas?
13 25 27 Dal 4-8 Karate Spin Kick- Sometimes we all need a kick to the head and that's exactly what you're gonna get if you DM LJ. One minute you'll be making a trade offer, the next he'll spin around and you'll lose all concept of reality- brain hurting, vision gone. In real time it looks incredible and, while not deadly, it's poetry in motion when used in combat.
12 28 11 Dal 2-11 Dallas Mavericks - "Macarena" – Los Del Rio (1993) The ultimate dance craze song, but unbearable after a while; have the Mavericks done all of their dance moves, and reverted to the known Macarena for security. Dallas continue to look for something more, and like the misunderstood nature of the lyrics in the Macarena - look it up because its wild - the Mavericks are trying to better understand how to make it work. Bridges has been a serious dance floor starter and brought the moves, but needs others to follow his choreography. .
11 26 19 Dal 3-11 Dallas Mavericks: The Nightmare 🔥🌑 Why? The Mavericks gallop like a Nightmare – a hellish, plane-shifting steed that scorches opponents with fiery offense and otherworldly chaos. Though lacking a singular titan, they thrive in the infernal blur between order and bedlam. Hellfire Core (Miles Bridges’ Chaos): Bridges embodies the Nightmare’s untamed flames, slashing through defenses with reckless drives and explosive dunks. Shadowflame Support (Devin Vassell’s Precision): Vassell strikes like a spectral archer, raining threes (38%+ from deep) with cold, calculated efficiency. His off-ball movement is a flicker in the smoke, disorienting defenders. Ethereal Hooves (Mark Williams’ Defense): Williams anchors the Nightmare’s stomp, swatting shots and devouring rebounds with 7’0” ferocity. His rim protection is the hellsteed’s iron-shod kick. Infernal Stamina (Duncan Robinson’s Fire): Robinson torches nets from deep, his three-point barrage a relentless wildfire. Even Obi Toppin leaps like a demonic acrobat, igniting fast breaks with manic energy.
10 24 36 Dal 5-9 The Retired Race Horse at the Carnival - "This is Zylar, he won three Group 1 races across his time on the track..." It seems that a new era is necessary for this old horse, and the carnival is no place for it either. Not being put to stud, and merely observing. It has been tiring for the Dallas Mavericks this season as they have seen glimpses and otherwise down-swings for the majority of the season. It seems time for the next generation of this organisation, GM LJ has diligently worked towards this next stable. He has his guys and knows the brand and ilk of player he wants. Will it be another Group 1 stayer?
9 11 61 Dal 8-5 The Hound, Gregor Clegane - Another one with an amazing character arc, who starts off as just a classic brute, he begins to show signs of a heart when he looks Sansa Stark when she is at the mercy of the then dreadful king, Joffrey. He then leaves the capital and goes on a long journey, a lot of with Arya Stark, who become somewhat unconventional companions, whose paths were always destined to intertwine again. At his core the Hound was driven by revenge towards his brother, the Mountain, who although in a grousome ending, it was nice to see him get his peace.
8 6 72 Dal 9-3
7 14 51 Dal 7-5 Snow White - Dallas - Her beauty inspires jealousy, but her animal friends and resilience make her a force to reckon with. Finally the Dallas Mavericks see beauty in their mirror, and the rear-vision mirror shows the wounds of the past. A far better looking Mavericks outfit and the sounds and songs around them are that of beauty ala Snow White. They live with whimsy and enchantment, though their might be terror lurking in the future. But for now, they can enjoy their time in the woods, and the thick, scary terror remains at bay - as Dallas sit 17th in the Power Rankings. GM LJ has been searching for security this season, for now he is comfortable in his cottage.
6 21 36 Dal 5-7 Dory (Finding Nemo) - Dory is a character so memorable and entertaining that it's spawned a very own movie, to solely focus on the exploits and accidental comedy of the flawed character. We love LJ. His appeal is wrapped in enigma and elusivness. We are so proud of what he and his family have been able to achieve and survive in this recent period. But there is no escaping LJ is the NSL's Dory. An uncanny resemblance. Poor memory. Poor conviction in following through with ideas and thoughts. Undeniable charm and heart. Stumbling into favourable outcomes. He is a beautiful disaster. Ironically, as all the fish in Finding Nemo try to escape the tank, LJ can't wait to get his way right back into one.
5 29 -3 Dal 1-11 Esther (Orphan) - The Dallas Mavericks are often underrated and underestimated, much like Esther, who presents herself as a sweet, innocent girl, only to reveal a dangerous, manipulative side. Esther’s deception reflects the Mavs' occasional rise against the odds—often surprising people with their strength, despite a history of being seen as less dangerous. Akin to Esther, the Mavs will be hoping to move on from their dark past, to a brighter future in the Flagg Sweepstakes. “I’m not your little girl.”
4 29 -5 Dal 1-11 Katniss Everdeen - The Hunger Games. A really cool concept, where teenagers from different wealth classes are put into a televised battle to the death for the entertainment of the masses. Katniss with a bow and arrow as her weapon of choice rises to the occasion. However, those in charge got more than they bargained for with her.
3 29 -20 Dal 0-12 The bad? Dallas has been awful, and even a healthy roster doesn’t change that much. The good? They’re in asset collection mode and they own their own 1st in the 2025 draft.
2 30 -16 Dal 0-8 “Ain't No Sunshine” - Bill Withers- No sunshine in Dallas so far this year, there’s only been a few close games this year for them. Losing in OT by 7 in the opener and their last game only by 7 as well, every other game has been a blowout.
1 30 -7 Dal 0-4 LJ's heart is heavy and it shows in the performances of the Dallas players. The Mavericks trudged through the first week of the season, looking similar to the 2024 version of the Mavericks. Can they find some vigour and take a step forward this season? Knecht 4 looks like a steal.
