Rookie Ranking
Week 12 - Rookie Rankings
THIS WEEK'S ROOKIE RANKING
![]() | 1. Alex Sarr (Atl) 2. Donovan Clingan (Atl) 3. Ariel Hukporti (Phi) 4. Zach Edey (Mem) 5. Ulrich Chomche (Por) |
1. Yves Missi, C, Cle | ||||||||||||||||||||
![]()
Last Week: 1 With 21 starts from 30 games, Missi has already proven to the Cavaliers front office, the fans and the NSL at large, that he is a player to fear. He has amassed 12 rebounds per game, 2 blocks and 8 points. The Cavaliers have entrusted the center spot with Missi, and he has shown out, even with glitch lord unicorn Andre Drummond. Missi continues to be a force of defensive nature. A big reason that the team finds themselves top of the East. |
2. Ajay Mitchell, PG, Phi
![]()
Last Week: 2 Selected 54th overall, he may well be the biggest overperformer in the draft class. Mitchell has been exceptional in his minutes for the 76ers. With 4 starts from 25 games, Mitchell has been a fierce competitor and found himself leading the guard slot with maturity. Mitchell has carved out impressive stat lines for a blossoming career, with 14 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists per game. This is exactly the type of output the 76ers would have wanted from him. |
3. Zach Edey, C, Mem | ||||||||||||||||||||
![]()
Last Week: 5 39 Games, and 27 starts, Edey has been called upon to mature quickly. Memphis have needed him to be a big influencer in his rookie year, and the lights may have been too shiny. Having said that, while the Grizz have struggled, Edey has managed a large output, 22nd for rebounds (8.9 per game), 4th for blocks (2.2 per game), and 21st for Offensive Rebounds. His efficency has been impressive too, ranking 10th for field goal percentage (at 8 points per game). He has a bright career ahead of him; the Grizz will look for him to make a continued impact to turn season 24/25 around. |
4. Donovan Clingan, C, Atl
![]()
Last Week: 3 The Atlanta investment into the rookie draft was well documented, and the output of Donovan Clingan has been scrutinised. However, Clingan has produced in his rookie year - 19th for rebounds in the league, 16th for blocks in the league and 14th for steals (10 per game / 1.7 per game / 1.3 per game). As the Hawks have ebbed and flowed, the influence of the rookie Clingan has been consistent. He will be a continuing force, and time will smile fondly on his development. |
5. Alex Sarr, PF, Atl | ||||||||||||||||||||
![]()
Last Week: 4 Partnering up with another rookie in Clingan is never an easy task. Alex Sarr has been able to carve his own path however. He has been exceptional, as a top lottery pick should be. With 9 points per game, and 6 rebounds, Sarr has been a healthy contributor. We would expect more from him though. As the first overall pick, and an 80 overall, the current identity and production seems lacking. Atlanta have themselves an excellent player - is he ROTY good though? |
6. Stephon Castle, SG, Mem
![]()
Last Week: 8 Stephon Castle continues to have his star rise. Castle has been impressive from his 51 games (20 starting) - 13 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists has been extra helpful to the rollercoaster riding Memphis. Castle has provided significant upside with his rookie partner Edey. He will continue to get better and find his identity in the league, and within the Grizzlies roster. |
7. KJ Simpson, PG, NO | ||||||||||||||||||||
![]()
Last Week: 9 Undrafted, KJ Simpson was left alone, and with a chip on his shoulder. He has used that to be a menace; supporting New Orleans in his limited minutes. He has played 16 games, adding 9 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists from his time on the court. Simpson has been unassuming, and has taken many teams unawares. A clear indication of the rookie impact, and the NSL vibrance of guard talent. |
8. Ulrich Chomche, C, Por
![]()
Last Week: 6 It is saddening to write this one, as Chomche has been able to build a solid year from his 20 minutes per game in Portland. Chomche has been able to add 7 points, 5 rebounds, and a block per game. Seriously impressive from a player at pick 47. Disappointingly Chomche has sustained an MCL injury that will have him out all season - the Blazers will be without his input and output. |
9. Bub Carrington, PG, Bos
![]()
Last Week: 7 Being shopped? Not being shopped? Carrington has been impressive in his first year. The rookie has been able to support his team, and provided an extra boost to the squad on the court and off the court. Carrington has tallied 50 games throughout the season, with 4 starts, and been able to make an influence - sustaining the Phoenix Suns rise. Carrington has averaged 9 points per game, 2 rebounds per game, and 2 assists per game. A healthy output as he is mentored by Damian Lillard. |
10. Jared McCain, SG, Bos
![]()
Last Week: 10 McCain burst into the season with a flurry of highlights and surged in his NSL and NBA career with early influence. McCain has amassed 11 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists from his time on the court. At 80 overall, the Celtics have found a quality player to their roster, and when fully fit will bring extra exhuberance to the championship hungry franchise. |
