Philadelphia 76ers - "Take On Me" – A-ha (1985) An iconic synth-pop masterpiece with one of the most famous music videos ever, Philadelphia have risen to the top of the pops! They have been able to string together much needed movement in the wins column and I don’t think there is a chance they will be ‘gone’. |

LA Lakers - "Come on Eileen" – Dexys Midnight Runners (1982) Catchy, nostalgic, and still played at parties and weddings worldwide. Laker Nation is a buzz, and for good reason. They’ve been muddied and dirtied by the season like Dexys Midnight Runner and ultimately come out on top! The feeling is that this Laker tune, like ‘Come on Eileen’ will be played for many years to come. |

Chicago Bulls - "Don't You (Forget About Me)" – Simple Minds (1985) Immortalized by The Breakfast Club, this song has an emotional punch (freeze frame!). Chicago are continuing to remind the league not to write them off. They have been a serious force this season, and the methods are working. The Bulls have been able to devour teams with their brand of smash and grab basketball. |

Indiana Pacers - "Tainted Love" – Soft Cell (1981) A new wave classic with an unforgettable melody, the new wave of Indiana Pacers basketball has been enthralling. The team and organisation have been ruthless and persistent in their pursuits of happier times and competitive play. They sit 4th in the rankings, and this would be music to the ears of the fan base. Hungry for more wins - and ‘that’s not nearly all,’ |

OKC Thunder - "Somebody That I Used to Know" – Gotye feat. Kimbra (2011) Modern, haunting, and deeply relatable, the OKC Thunder have been a modern basketball organisation on the rise, and certainly haunting the opponents they have faced. Sitting 9-2 in their recent run of form, the Thunder have been uncompromising. Like Gotye and Kimbra, the complexity and harmony within this squad is stellar - they have the right mix to beat nearly any team on their day. |

Memphis Grizzlies - "No Rain" – Blind Melon (1992) Instantly recognisable, and enthused with joy, the Grizzlies are dancing like the Bee Girl from the music video. There’s no rain in Memphis now, they are in sunshine. They have bathed in the sweet elixir of recent weeks, and found their groove. Memphis continue to go from strength to strength, they will hope to be on the radar longer than Blind Melon. |

Sacramento Kings - "99 Luftballons" – Nena (1983) A powerful anti-war song with an irresistibly catchy hook. Infectious and deeply loved, 99 Luftballons launched Nena, and season 24/25 has launched the Sacramento Kings. They have become a meme, they have been branded, they have a catch-phrase, and they are sky-high right now. 7th in the Power Rankings, and leaving all doubters in the wake. GM Klemm has been on a PR tour spruiking the ‘stea-KINGS’ and for good reason - they have the hook. |

New Orleans Pelicans - "Eye of the Tiger" – Survivor (1982) A motivational anthem thanks to Rocky III, still a staple at sports events; and very much the direction of this organisation; New Orleans have been exceptional in their direction and tiger-eyed focus. They have been rising up from week to week, and their ability to hurt teams is evident - questions remain if they’re Rocky, Apollo, or Ivan. One thing is for sure, they are looking to land every punch they can in season 24/25. |

Houston Rockets - "Black Betty" – Ram Jam (1977) A raw, energetic rock song that never gets old; Houston have an 8-4 run under their belt and haven’t wavered since the beginning of the season. The Rockets are hard hitting and fierce. There is no cover version here. It is the original and still the best. This organisation has a clear leader and lead tune in Jokic, that everyone wishes they had - in the same way that Black Betty still holds up in its instant recognition. |

Cleveland Cavaliers - "My Sharona" – The Knack (1979) A power-pop anthem with an infectious riff. Powerful and driven, the Cavaliers are feared by most in the league. They have the ability to hurt all, and have the right mix. The Knack were unable to follow it up as a band, and their next album was a mirror of the first, the Cavs won’t have that issue with GM Shams meticulously mapping this teams progression.

Milwaukee Bucks - "Come and Get Your Love" – Redbone (1974) Revived by Guardians of the Galaxy, making it even more beloved. The Bucks continue to build towards their playoffs run. They have been mixing it up, and like a dancing baby, you cannot look away. The Bucks have been grooving lately, and their lead SGA is one the best hooks. |

Charlotte Hornets - "Video Killed the Radio Star" – The Buggles (1979) The first song ever played on MTV, symbolizing the music video era. The Hornets are in a revolutionary state at the moment as GM Craig looks to mould this team into the next machination. They have been killing it and forced many teams hands, but will it fizzle or will they become a relevant name in the league? |

Toronto Raptors - "Mickey" – Toni Basil (1982) Cheerleader pop at its finest—instantly recognisable, and the Toronto Raptors have two of the best players to cheer for in Curry and Durant. They are two of the elder statesmen in the league, but they are still at the top of their game. They have taken their fans by the hearts and the hands - but a 6-6 run is not the cheerful PR result they would be looking for. |

Denver Nuggets - "Play That Funky Music" – Wild Cherry (1976) The ultimate white-boy funk jam - the Nuggets are full of funk! They sit 6-7 in this PR, and would be wanting the dial to move. They need that jam to come back to them, and have more times of dancing and singing if they are going to be in the fight. Can this week be the cherry on top, with a healthier roster on the court? |

Washington Wizards - "Spirit in the Sky" – Norman Greenbaum (1969) A psychedelic rock staple with a unique sound, that leaves the listener pondering the great unknown. The Wizards are having that existential moment in the league as they battle themselves in many respects. The spirit is there but is it willing. The talent is definitely there, but the Wizards have had a swinging and swaying year that has them high and then low the next moment - akin to this song. |

Miami Heat - "Walking on Sunshine" – Katrina & The Waves (1985) Pure joy in song form, used in countless commercials, and the branding of the Miami Heat at the moment seems good. The team is walking on sunshine, they know who they are and where they’re heading and the progression of this roster is one of the best in the league. 6-6 in the recent run of form is admirable, and they would be wanting more wins. But, the groove and feeling of this team is one that I feel can continue to be in the ears of the NSL for years to come. |

Boston Celtics - “Untouched" – The Veronicas (2007) Pop-rock perfection with a catchy chorus, the Boston Celtics would not want to overthink things too much. They need Tatum to be untouched to make things happen for them. They aren’t going to be happy to be here, akin to the Veronicas and their careers. 17th in the PR, the Celtics and GM Toby will be wanting this to change.

Golden State Warriors - "Stacy’s Mom" – Fountains of Wayne (2003) A hilarious and catchy pop-punk hit, the Golden State Warriors have got it going on. They have been lethal and found the edge over many teams. The once forgotten Warriors are in a spot they could only have dreamed of, and the 18th ranking in the PR is a massive win. |

Atlanta Hawks - "The Safety Dance" – Men Without Hats (1982) Quirky and fun with an unforgettable beat, the Hawks have all three traits. Their youthful exuberance and ability to play with ‘many’ hats has been impressive. They can dance if they want to, and for good reason as they have seen an uptick in their production - especially from their young core. |

Phoenix Suns - "I'm Too Sexy" – Right Said Fred (1991) Goofy but undeniably catchy, the Suns have seen a reduction in their placement, but they remain a force. They continue to make the moves and shakes to shake their thing on the NSL catwalk. GM Laddas has been up and about, and for good reason as this team looks sexy at times - led by NSL model machine, Damian Lillard.

Utah Jazz - "I Believe in a Thing Called Love" – The Darkness (2003) High-energy glam rock revival, but a bit too niche. I for one love the Darkness, and their are many members of the Utah Jazz that I love too. This is a belief thing. I believe that the Utah Jazz are underperforming here. They will drive forward like the lead guitar on this track, they have too much to not be relevant. |

Minnesota Timberwolves - "Who Let the Dogs Out" – Baha Men (2000) Overplayed to the point of annoyance, but still memorable - the Timberwolves have come down. It was high flying for a long time, and now they have been reduced like the Baha Men (all 10 members). But unlike the Baha Men and its 10 members, they have all been forgotten, and the questions being posed of the Timberwolves are much more serious than ‘Who let the dogs out?” |

Detroit Pistons - "Tubthumping" – Chumbawamba (1997) Fun at first, but repetitive, and leading to misunderstandings. The song is a parody gone wrong. The band never meant for it to be more than tongue and cheek, and the Pistons have misunderstood the assignment lately too. The team have 4-9 in the recent run of form, and definitely would be wanting more with star guard Brunson. Between now and the next PR, they might need a whiskey drink, vodka drink, lager drink, and cider drink to numb the pain. . |

Orlando Magic - "Rico Suave" – Gerardo (1990) Catchy, but mostly a novelty song, the Magic haven’t been able to make the novelty of having Kyrie Irving work to full effect….yet. I think they can. I think they have many of the moves pieces to make things more than a fleeting hit. They can definitely manufacture more in Orlando - GM Mailo will need to get creative to avoid obscurity.

Portland Trail Blazers "Graduation Song" – Vitamin C(1992) Known more for its use at graduation ceremonies, the song has become pigeonholed. Portland have been maligned of late too, mainly through annoyance and trade block/trade talk appearances. The Blazers have all the nutrients and vitamins they need to simmer out of the discussions and look towards the draft. GM JMac has been relentless in his flipping of his assets, and as we go on we remember each of those players - “Roll the in-memorium” |

San Antonio Spurs - "Mambo No. 5" – Lou Bega (1999) Fun but repetitive, feels more like a party gimmick than a song; is this the current SA Spurs identity? I don’t think I would have ever thought season 24/25 would have the Spurs down here. They cannot find the mix or the names to make it happen this season - is it Monica? Is it Erica? Is Pamela or Rita? I’m not sure if it’s getting sweeter for the Spurs either, GM Nels is on the war path and is wanting more from his men. |

Brooklyn Nets - "Barbie Girl" – Aqua (1997) A kitschy dance-pop hit, but very divisive, the Nets seem that team that some people either think is performing as expected or underperforming. One thing is certain, they cannot stay on the court - they need to be put in plastic, shrink wrap and bubble wrap to avoid hospitalisation. There seems to be no hanky-panky here - they continue to sit at the bottom of the league looking up. But are they just getting started? |

Dallas Mavericks - "Macarena" – Los Del Rio (1993) The ultimate dance craze song, but unbearable after a while; have the Mavericks done all of their dance moves, and reverted to the known Macarena for security. Dallas continue to look for something more, and like the misunderstood nature of the lyrics in the Macarena - look it up because its wild - the Mavericks are trying to better understand how to make it work. LA Clippers - "Blue (Da Ba Dee)" – Eiffel 65 (1998) Catchy but nonsense lyrics made it feel gimmicky, and this leads to the LA Clippers where the gimmick may have ran itself to the end. Is this the real LA Clippers? With Paolo and JDub, you have to question why things look Blue for this organisation? They have so much undeniable talent, but their blue house, with blue window etc. seems more of a view point than a reality - the Clippers have a brighter future than 29th in the PR. |

New York Knicks - "Achy Breaky Heart" – Billy Ray Cyrus (1992) Country’s most love-it-or-hate-it song, with many in the latter camp, and the Knicks are sitting in that column with this. They would be hating the idea of being here, but loving the idea of being here. They are in total rebuild mode, and they will be looking to heal their achy breaky heart as the season progresses. They have many quality assets, and before you know it they can bloom from peak mullet Billy Ray, to Grammy performing Miley before you know it. The new era Knicks will be impressive, but for now, they remain at the bottom, pleading for mercy akin to Billy Ray. |
