New Orleans Pelicans - Power Ranking

Week Rank Rating Team Record Comment
15 22 27 NO 4-8 "That's What Friends Are For" by Dionne & Friends This heartfelt collaboration emphasizes the importance of friendship and support during challenging times. The lyrics celebrate the enduring nature of true friendship, highlighting how friends provide comfort, strength, and hope, reinforcing the value of being there for one another through life's ups and downs. Acquiring the best young star in the league was one of biggest trade coupes the league has ever seen and expected great things for the Pels. The season hasn’t necessarily lived up to expectations. Ups and downs.
14 15 45 NO 6-6 15. New Orleans Pelicans (Indonesia) The Pelicans, like Indonesia's 'archipelago economy,' have 'islands' of talent that, when connected, could lead to significant 'economic expansion' in the league. With a vibrant population, and expansive economy structure, Indonesia remains a huge world trading partner. So too, the Pels as they remain an active player in the league, with Doncic leading the line.
13 11 55 NO 7-5 Hand Grenade- Often threatening to blow it up, GM Leeroy does his killing with the humble and messy hand grenade. At best, they're incredibly destructive and able to wipe out quantities of victims, while destroying the morale of the bystanders. At worst, they can self-destruct and blow up in the hand of the killer. Leeroy hasn't had a lot of luck this season but a decent spot in the standings and a loaded roster should have him ready to explode come playoff time.
12 8 71 NO 9-4 New Orleans Pelicans - "Eye of the Tiger" – Survivor (1982) A motivational anthem thanks to Rocky III, still a staple at sports events; and very much the direction of this organisation; New Orleans have been exceptional in their direction and tiger-eyed focus. They have been rising up from week to week, and their ability to hurt teams is evident - questions remain if they’re Rocky, Apollo, or Ivan. One thing is for sure, they are looking to land every punch they can in season 24/25.
11 16 53 NO 7-6 New Orleans Pelicans: The Otyugh 🗑️🦑 D&D Monster Classification: Otyugh Why? The Pelicans thrive in the chaotic muck of the court, mirroring the Otyugh – a grotesque, garbage-devouring monstrosity that dominates through sheer, unrefined bulk and opportunistic chaos. Luka Dončić is the Otyugh’s bloated core, feasting on defensive scraps and churning out triple-doubles like half-digested waste. Rotund Mass (Luka’s Gravity): Dončić lumbers through defenses with Otyugh-like heft, his 6’6” frame (and rumored offseason “conditioning”) creating gravitational pull for rebounds and kick-out passes. His post-ups are a sludge-slow buffet of spins and pivots. Tentacle Playmaking (Vision in the Mire): Luka’s passing acts as the Otyugh’s writhing tentacles, snatching assists from the murkiest double-teams. Even his diet of contested step-backs fuels the chaos. Trash Heap Support (Scavenger Squad): Rudy Gobert is the Otyugh’s calcified waste pile, clogging the paint. Russell Westbrook scurries like a rat-gnome, hoarding loose balls and fast breaks. Aaron Gordon lurks as a lurking trash-goblin, dunking on unsuspecting janitors.
10 12 60 NO 8-5 A Pelican Stealing the Jumanji Board - DUDE! We just want to finish the game! The NOLA Pelicans have been causing chaos with their talented lineup. While others are trying to get the job done, like a pesky pelican, New Orleans have been trouble. Doncic and Westbrook out they have still be problematic. As the season progresses and teams try their hardest to trump this Pelicans team - they will continue to cause headaches.
9 20 45 NO 6-6 Podrick Payne - You gotta love Pod. I can't recall how exactly, but ended up being Tyrions squire and saved his life in battle, and from then on he was just good to have around. He ended up with Breanne of Tarth, and she fond of his company. He was eventually knighted for all his good deeds. The girls in the brothel also loved him.
8 14 56 NO 7-5
7 6 69 NO 8-4 The Beast (Beauty and the Beast) - New Orleans - Physical strength, enchanted castle, and a tragic backstory that tugs at the heartstrings. New Orleans are bruisers. They have the backstory that has them hungry for more, as previous seasons had left them scorn. Through sheer will power and a faith in the future, this Beast has emerged bigger and better. The Pelicans are frightening at times, and the way they have pushed teams when fully healed is startling. The question is that, much like Beast, are the wounds too much, and which version will we see, the lover and the fighter are strong within, however the villagers and world (injuries and NSL) can be cruel.
6 5 81 NO 9-3 Gill (Finding Nemo) - 'All drains lead to the ocean, kid.' I genuinely learned that from Gill, and theres some metaphor circling around that explanation, too; theres an endpoint for every journey. For Leeroy and the Pelicans, it's becoming an NSL Champion. Leeroy is one of the elite already, a champion in the NLL and one of our founding forefathers. Like Gill, he has been through it, with scars to show and tales to tell. He has reserved himself to a cursed life, a journey that will only go as far as the invisible boundary (health of his team) will allow him to go. However, with Luka and a great team, Leeroy might get to that big, blue ocean that he's dreaming of.
5 8 72 NO 8-4 Sadako Yamamura (Ringu) - Unbelievably talented, and deep, the Pelicans are like a never ending well of terror, and such is the talent, that you cannot look away, almost like videotape you know you should PRESS EJECT and never watch EVER… Sadako Yamamura feasts on misery - as does the Pelicans with 8-4 record, sitting in the top of the West. Such is the terror of the Pels, many know of them, but just cannot stop it - “It’s like a disease. If you know about it, you’re infected.”
4 11 61 NO 7-5 Forest Gump - Forest Gump. What an epic tail of a chronic overachiever and a man who did so much and touched so many people without having any intention of doing so. Forest who served in the military, played ping pong for his country, created a successful shrimping company, invested in a fruit company (Apple) and ran around the USA. All while trying to find the love of his life, Jenny (or Jennay). The way this movie ties all Forest's achievements into real life events, make it a fascinating masterpiece.
3 5 68 NO 8-4 The Pelicans have a lot going for them this year, and any team with Luka Doncic on it should be a contender. However, the X factor this year seems to Russell Westbrook. Averaging nearly 16ppg off the bench on strong efficiency.
2 4 52 NO 6-2 "Ain't NO Stopping us Now" - McFadden and Whitehead- This team is looking great and just need guys to be healthy, even with some guys being out they've been doing really good and only have lost two games so far. Also had to include No in the song for their towns initials.
1 4 27 NO 3-1 Leeroy has the Pelicans roaring (it's not literal, it's figurative) and it's about as tough as a Pelican has ever been. I still think their starting five might be the most complementary of any teams, maybe tied with Utah, Washington. Luka looks vetted enough now to carry this team to the Final Boss level.
