Power Ranking - PR: Tarot Card Readings

Dec, 09 (Week 3) - Which card has your franchise drawn? What fate awaits you? [jmac]

1 (1)Rating 108
New York KnicksNY11-1

The High Priestess: Stands for intuition, mystery, and inner knowing. Suggests answers lie within or behind the scenes. Smokey doesn't say much, with his trade block thread making up the majority of his communication. However, in a few swift moves, that some thought unassuming, he has built a powerhouse. Smokey just gets it. He knows.

Up2 (4)Rating 100
Milwaukee BucksMil11-2

Temperance: Indicates balance, moderation, and emotional harmony. Encourages patience and blending energies smoothly. Have the Bucks ever really hit their straps under the Ethan regime? Has Ethan ever felt the connection to the Bucks team? They are performing wonderfully at the moment and on paper, look to have the goods. Maybe some spiritual connection to team is helping?

Up3 (5)Rating 86
Oklahoma City ThunderOKC10-2

The Tower: A symbol of sudden change, upheaval, or revelation. Old foundations collapse so truth can emerge. New GM in OKC, new era of basketball. If James was covert, then this new regime is Showtime. Cake is a breath of fresh air and his Curry deal looks like a home run. Thunder are primed.

Up4 (7)Rating 83
Cleveland CavaliersCle9-3

Temperance: Indicates balance, moderation, and emotional harmony. Encourages patience and blending energies smoothly. Talk about chemistry! Curry, Randle and Barnes seems like a random trio, but they are playing like they have been teammates for years. Cavs aren't getting attention, but those wins are piling up.

Down5 (3)Rating 74
San Antonio SpursSA8-4

The Emperor: Embodies authority, discipline, logic, and structure. Encourages taking control or being organized and decisive. No player screams 'emperor' more than Giannis. Nels has his consistent methods of team and roster construction and the discipline tends to pay off big.

Up6 (8)Rating 72
Indiana PacersInd9-4

The Fool: Represents new beginnings, innocence, and taking a leap of faith. Encourages trusting the journey even without knowing the outcome. Yeet's leap of faith in trading Wemby has been readily documented and ridiculed. But... could Yeet laugh last and loudest? His Pacers look good.

Down7 (2)Rating 68
LA LakersLAL7-5

The Chariot: Symbolizes determination, focused effort, and victory through discipline. Overcoming obstacles by staying in control. Coming off the high of the Wemby-heist, and a solid win streak, the Lakers have been whacked with misfortune. When the ride is bumpiest, that's when you really need to hold on.

Down8 (6)Rating 63
Dallas MavericksDal8-5

The Magician: Symbolizes manifestation, skill, and willpower. You have the tools and potential to create what you want. What is in the water at the Dallas headquarters? GM LJ has his team playing terrific basketball, even without arguably their best player. The man has put a spell on the team.

Up9 (12)Rating 62
Chicago BullsChi7-5

Seven of Pentacles: Represents patience, long-term investment, and evaluating progress. Results take time but are growing. This feels like the Bulls to me. Jonathan is never in a hurry to do too much, or anything drastic, calmly tinkering with his personnel. He believes in his team and sees a steady climb as the right way to build.

Up10 (14)Rating 59
Portland Trail BlazersPor7-5

The Moon: Stands for illusion, intuition, dreams, and uncertainty. Things may not be what they seem; trust instincts. Is Cooper Flagg really this good already? Or this is simply an anomaly from a small sample of data? If jmac has one thing, it is intuition. Is it 'go time', now? Is this broken team closer than it seems to being whole again?

11 (11)Rating 58
Houston RocketsHou8-4

The Lovers: Represents meaningful relationships, choices from the heart, and aligning values. A sign of harmony or major decisions. No GM represents harmony more than Vitt, who is but a leaf on the wind, moving where the energy takes him. Vitt's roster turns over at a snail's pace, allowing the team to build chemistry and the players to be beloved.

Down12 (10)Rating 58
Philadelphia 76ersPhi7-5

The Chariot: Symbolizes determination, focused effort, and victory through discipline. Overcoming obstacles by staying in control. The Murray injury was a massive hit to the spirit last season, but Ben took it in a stride and rewarded with a strong team effort to close the season and a great off-season of moves. Ben's commitment to the vision has his team looking formidable (again).

Up13 (22)Rating 57
New Orleans PelicansNO7-5

Wheel of Fortune: Signifies cycles, fate, and unexpected change. A shift in luck or turning point beyond your control. Geez, talk about a rollercoaster ride in New Orleans. A few weeks earlier, leeroy was loading up the trade block with 'fire sale' banners. Was Luka crap in 2k? Nope. It appears the the Pelicans have finally figured it out and leeroy has stepped away from the ledge. The love/hate cycle will continue in NO.

Down14 (9)Rating 56
Utah JazzUtah7-5

The Devil: Represents temptation, unhealthy attachments, fear, or illusion. A call to break free from self-imposed chains. There is no easy way to say it - there is a looming spectre slowly creeping towards the snow-capped mountains of Utah. Embiid looks grounded, the finances are sky-high, and the chemistry is inconsistent, despite having arguable the most talent in the league. Will jas make a move or is he attached to this squad?

15 (15)Rating 51
Charlotte HornetsCha7-7

Nine of Cups: Symbolizes emotional satisfaction, wishes coming true, and enjoying life’s pleasures. A card of gratitude and fulfillment. I enjoy Craig's continual positive disposition about his team. He always believes in his Hornets and rides the ups and downs like a pro. After a grind off the court, his Hornets are finding their groove.

Up16 (18)Rating 48
Miami HeatMia6-6

Four of Pentacles: Represents security, boundaries, and holding tight to resources—sometimes to the point of rigidity or fear of loss. Pete has his guys that he likes and he has an ideal build in 2k, with height and defence. Why are the Heat still middling? Does Pete need to stop playing it safe and make a splash with his depth and picks?

Up17 (21)Rating 36
Memphis GrizzliesMem5-7

Three of Swords: A card of heartbreak, disappointment, or painful truth. Encourages emotional release and healing. It feels like the Grizzlies took a hit a few years ago that caused a pain that is still lingering. Consistent 'pilot error', consistent injuries, misfortune, disappointing results in important games. The once proud and strong Grizz are still looking to complete their redemption arc.

Up18 (19)Rating 34
Toronto RaptorsTor5-8

Wheel of Fortune: Signifies cycles, fate, and unexpected change. A shift in luck or turning point beyond your control. Was Dylan bound to end up with Brunson, KAT and Hart, after declaring his love for the real-life Knicks players? New season, new team for Toronto. Dyl still working them out.

Up19 (23)Rating 29
Detroit PistonsDet5-8

The Hanged Man: Represents surrender, pause, and seeing things from a new angle. Change occurs through letting go. The Pistons went all Elsa and 'Let it Go', leaning heavily into a gut and rebuild. Trae out, Ace in and lots of questionable coaching moves. Sheed has increased his activity as of late; new Pistons era approaching?

Up20 (25)Rating 28
Denver NuggetsDen4-8

Five of Wands: Symbolises conflict, competition, tension, or miscommunication. Energy is scattered; cooperation is needed. Donovan Mitchell is off to a slow start and so are the Nuggets. Is this team sleepwalking? Is there something going on behind the scenes?

Down21 (13)Rating 28
Orlando MagicOrl4-7

The Hermit: Represents introspection, solitude, and inner guidance. A time to withdraw, reflect, and seek truth. Despite a lack of wins, the Orlando Magic are definitely building. Our lone female, mailo, a rose amongst the thorns, doesn't do things loudly but makes moves. The Magic have control of their pick destiny for this season, so any outcome is good.

Down22 (17)Rating 27
Sacramento KingsSac4-9

The Fool: Represents new beginnings, innocence, and taking a leap of faith. Encourages trusting the journey even without knowing the outcome. In some ways, Klemm is too good and pure for this world. In other ways, he is a bourbon drinking, pot-smoking mad lad who flies by the seat of his pants. The Kings are doing Kings things, hanging thereabouts. The man doesn't worry about the swim back, and I love it.

Up23 (28)Rating 27
Washington WizardsWas4-9

Five of Wands: Symbolizes conflict, competition, tension, or miscommunication. Energy is scattered; cooperation is needed. Are the Wizards just a clean bill of health away from being the fearsome Title defenders we all anticipated? It has been a very rocky start, with the Front Office even complaining about the media attention Booker hasn't been getting for his scoring numbers. Will there be calmer waters ahead?

Up24 (26)Rating 25
Brooklyn NetsBkn4-8

Wheel of Fortune: Signifies cycles, fate, and unexpected change. A shift in luck or turning point beyond your control. When the cogs and gears of fate twist and turn there's not much you can do to halt the momentum. Each year, it is going to be the 'Net's Year' but thus far, all they have is injuries and disappointment. With Trae and OG nearing a return, will see see a good team emerge?

Down25 (20)Rating 24
Atlanta HawksAtl4-7

The Chariot: Symbolizes determination, focused effort, and victory through discipline. Overcoming obstacles by staying in control. Bulldog has already stated he wants to be the first to build a 'modern' NSL team where incredible depth and chemistry will trump star power. Bulldog believes in his players and is recognizant of not giving freely trading and giving up on players/ideals.

Up26 (27)Rating 24
LA ClippersLAC4-8

The Hermit: Represents introspection, solitude, and inner guidance. A time to withdraw, reflect, and seek truth. Andrew never seems too high or too low in the NSL, and you wouldn't really know either way. If the Clippers are going to pop, it's coming from in house.

Down27 (24)Rating 17
Golden State WarriorsGS4-8

The Star: Represents hope, healing, peace, and inspiration. A guiding light during or after difficult times. The Star is Daz, without a shadow of a doubt. Never have I seen such a brave and admirable GM. To leave the league's best team for the league's worst is herculean. As long as he is there, the team will be ok.

Down28 (16)Rating 15
Boston CelticsBos4-9

Death: Symbolizes transformation, endings, and deep renewal. Old phases fall away to make room for growth. As Will Ferrell's character states in Wedding Crashers, 'with death comes rebirth'. Tatum is in cryo-freeze and the window that never was seems to have closed. What will take shape?

Up29 (30)Rating -1
Minnesota TimberwolvesMin3-9

Two of Wands: Symbolizes planning, exploring options, and making decisions that shape your future direction. Shay has been in the news this past week. The Wolves are losing, his players are all hurt, but are the bad times about to end? Many have weighed in on what he should be doing to rescue the Wolves. He is playing cards close to his chest and seeing what plays out.

Down30 (29)Rating -9
Phoenix SunsPho1-11

The Hanged Man: Represents surrender, pause, and seeing things from a new angle. Change occurs through letting go. Laddas had his plans ripped to shreds when Dame's achilles was ripped to shreds. He made the best of a bad hand and has taken a swing on some high upside youth.
