New Era, New Team

Introducing, our Portland Team (for now...)!

Profoundly punctuating what has been a whirlwind off-season for the Portland Trailblazers, OG Anunoby made way in a blockbuster deal that saw the elite defender move to Charlotte. The roster has undergone almost an entire overhaul since the off-season began, post NSL-Finals. Even more dramatic is the transformation in the past year. Just a season ago, the opening week team featured LeBron James, Damian Lillard, Jakob Poeltl, Josh Richardson and Zeke Nnaji. Now, no player remains from the 2023-2024 season opening lineup.

The Blazers had an extremely quiet Free Agency by their standards, and this was by design; Portland wasn't in a position to require any players on the day and would not have been a sought-after destination for free agents due to their rebuild trajectory. Free Agency is full of battles, heartache and joy, and the Portland Front Office was quietly relieved that they had the luxury to sit it out. The OG trade, and the approaching roster finalising deadline means that this is *likely* the team Portland will begin the regular season with.

Here is the depth chart:

Point Guard: Jaden Ivey, Anthony Black, Jaden Springer

Shooting Guard: Bradley Beal, Chris Duarte, Jon Konchar

Small Forward: Lugentz Dort, Marjon Beauchamp, Nassir Little*

Power Forward: Brandon Clarke, Keegan Murray, Daron Holmes*

Center: Jusuf Nurkic, Hunter Tyson, Isaiah Jackson*

Critical moves that shaped the roster:
Bradley Beal for Christian Braun, Aaron Nesmith, Bogdan Bogdanovic - Portland paid a price of quality depth to bring in Bradley Beal, arguably the teams best player and lead scorer.

OG Anunoby for Jusuf Nurkic, Brandon Clarke, DaRon Holmes II - Portland sends out the best player to bring in two starting quality bigs and nab a good prospect (unfortunately, who is out for the season).

#2 2024 pick, Harrison Barnes for Keegan Murray, Aaron Nesmith - Portland Front Office was very high on Murray during the 2022 Draft, and was able to use the pick's upside to secure Keegan Murray and get him in a Portland uniform.

Jaden Ivey for TJ McConnell, three first round picks - On paper, the price is steep, but Jaden Ivey has high upside and the perfect guard for Portland to build around.

It's a new era in Portland. Lots to be excited about!
