Power Ranking - PR - The little things in life…

Up1 (2)Rating 113
New York KnicksNY12-0

Fresh sheets on the bed - New York have been making some money moves and it is really paying off! they look dangerous on paper and are dangerous on the court too. There is something special and relaxing about getting into bed with fresh sheets after a long day. The New york fans are experiencing that joy right now.

Up2 (3)Rating 101
LA LakersLAL11-1

Barefoot on luscious grass - Whether is the grounding feeling, being connected to the earth or just how nice it feels on the bottom of your feet, but walking barefoot in freshly cut pristine grass is definitely one of the little things that brings you joy. The lakers moves over the last few seasons are defintitely paying off, but they arent done. The newly acquired Demar Derozan and Draymond green will add some sturdy veteran depth to an already deep squad. I bet the lakers GM feels like he is constantly walking barefoot on that grass at the moment.

Up3 (4)Rating 87
Miami HeatMia9-3

Finding money in pants pocket - It is always a bit of a treat, when you put on a pair of pants or shorts and find some cash in one of the pockets. It feels like it was a little treat left by your past self for your future self. You could say the Miamis last drafts have been his past self getting gifts for his future self... his strike rate when it comes to. big men has been phenomenal.

Up4 (9)Rating 86
Oklahoma City ThunderOKC9-3

Getting more change than you're meant to - It is always a sneaky treat when you realise that the staff member has given you more than you should have gotten. There could a moment of guilt, thinking you should have given it back, or a moment of honesty where you did give it back. Either way, you profit some money, or profit karma if you give it back. OKC are profiting in the wins department which im sure they are thrilled about.

Up5 (12)Rating 84
Washington WizardsWas9-3

Compliment from a stranger - Don’t know if anything puts a pep in your step more than a complete stranger feeling the need to go out of their way to give you a compliment. Not only do you walk tall following it, it also reminds you that the world is not all bad and kindness still exists. Then maybe, just maybe you might pay it forward and do the same and spread some happiness. I am sure GM, josh has received his fair share of these. I know he has got some from me, albeit I am not a stranger, I still think he’s handsome. Although the slow start to the year, I would say Washington are walking a little taller of late, getting their swagger back like this had happened.

Up6 (15)Rating 82
Houston RocketsHou9-4

New personal best - This can be for anything, whether you’re in the gym and lifted more than usual, at work and increased your numbers, or just in life and did something better than you normally do or maybe you overcame some adversity. This one is less up to chance but more a result of your hard work and dedication. Perhaps this should be higher as this is earned and does not just happen. Good on you and you deserve that buzz you feel when this happens. Houston has experienced adversity but are overcoming it before our eyes.

Down7 (5)Rating 80
San Antonio SpursSA9-4

Holding a door open - this is a dying art, but every now and again those of us that still partake in this ancient ritual of holding a door open for a stranger will get a warm reception when completing this act. A simple thank you or nod is all we ask for, but sometimes you get a little more and it is received with a warm smile and gratitude. This is what makes it all worth it and will keep you fighting this good fight for years to come. The spurs have made plenty of moves but the door remains open!

Down8 (1)Rating 79
Indiana PacersInd8-5

On special - It is always a well received surprise when you are shopping and something that you but very regularly is on special. You were going to get it anyway so always nice to save a little on it or possibly a lot. Indiana so far have had a little special but I am sure they are hoping to only increase it as the season goes on.

Down9 (6)Rating 75
Milwaukee BucksMil9-3

Free samples - It is always a little treat when you're just wandering the aisles of the shopping centre and you see someone giving out free samples of something you can tell will be delicious. As I am writing this and thinking about I had the realisation that I would not have had a sample life this or even seen one for quite some time. I guess it is a thing of the past. I am sure Costco still do it though. Milwaukee has had all the samples it can handle this year and it doesn't look like running out any time soon.

Down10 (8)Rating 72
Portland Trail BlazersPor8-4

Getting great parking spot - Parking can be a stressful part of an outing, especially if it’s a busy place. But, sometimes the gods smile on you and a prime spot frees up right in front of your eyes. You may not believe it possible at first or perhaps it is a designated spot and it’s not meant for you. But as you creep closer you see it is a normal spot and that today is just your day! You pull straight in and hop out of the car and it’s a bounce in your step! Since the deals have gone down and Portland have turned the quick rebuild in to a contender I am sure there is more than a bounce in their step.

Down11 (10)Rating 69
Chicago BullsChi8-4

Early delivery - You purchase something off the internet and you see the delivery time and wonder if you will be home when it is expected to be delivered, or of the postman will leave it at your door or take it to the post office. Then it happens! Days earlier than expected you come home from work and see this beautiful cardboard box waiting for you at your door. What a pleasant surprise, whichI am sure Chicago fans felt that when they heard Franz was going to be part of their team.

Up12 (18)Rating 67
Golden State WarriorsGS8-3

Hiccups - these are a minor inconvenience at best but can also make you have a little giggle as they can be funny. This is unless they come at an unfortunate time where you need to keep yourself together and not be making some ridiculous noise every five to ten seconds. There are wives tails about holding your breath or drinking water upside down can cure them, although I have not seen any published evidence to support this. Although they’re sort of middle of the pack this week in the standings. Maybe the Warriors and Daz have figure out the remedy, as he has taken this dumpster fire of a team when he took over and turned them into one that might see the playoffs.

Down13 (11)Rating 59
Charlotte HornetsCha7-5

Leaving your fly down - This isn’t really a big deal unless some wanna be clown makes it a big deal. It should be handled discretely by someone that’s got your back just giving you a little signal that your zipper is down. However some people feel the need to turn it into a comedy routine which often results in inappropriate comments. Hopefully the new GM of the hornets gets a conscientious welcome and does become the butt if someone’s jokes.

Down14 (7)Rating 52
Atlanta HawksAtl7-5

Splitting your pants - This kind of all depends on the severity of the split, what the recipient is wearing underneath and how the recipient chooses to handle It. Speaking from personal experiences, I had a job interview where I was sitting across from a person and it all went well until at the end realised I had a split in the crouch of my pants which was staring at the other person the whole time. Luckily for one, I had underwear on, and two, it was a dark colour so maybe it wasn’t as noticeable as it could have been. Bigger issues may arise if you are that way inclined to be or a free-er nature and choose not to wear any at all. Then they’re might some further issues. Atlantas plans look to be coming quite nicely, so I would say the split in their pants is quite minor and possible not even noticeable. Oh and I still got the job by the way.

Up15 (16)Rating 37
LA ClippersLAC5-7

No milk - this can lead to an array of problems and solutions. This is definitely inconvenient but especially annoying when it wasn’t you that finished it and didn’t replace it. This could be for your morning coffee that you look forward to or possibly even can’t function without, or it could be for your morning breakfast, being a nice bowl of cereal or hot porridge. You don’t have time to go and get more so you need to come up with a solution. This could be having a back coffee of possible even for the psychos out there, water on your cereal… Clippers have a group of young stars so I don’t think they’re at the desperate stage of having milk on their cereal but maybe will just have a long black or espresso to keep them going.

Up16 (26)Rating 36
Minnesota TimberwolvesMin6-7

Running out of toilet paper - not only is this inconvenient it’s a combination of infuriating and funny. Because, depending on your living situation depends what happens next. If fortunate to have a loved one around you can call out, hoping they answer the call like the fires of Gondor being lit and come to aid. If that’s not an option then a shuffle down the hallway with your pants around your ankles to replenish your stock may be required. The Timberwolves aging stars have appeared to have run out of paper this season. Hopefully they can return like a comrade handing you more toilet paper through the barely opened door.

Down17 (13)Rating 35
Cleveland CavaliersCle5-6

Getting a splinter - This one could potentially be lower down the list depending on the severity of the splinter. If it is just a surface one and you get a little right and slight pain, but are able to immediately and cleanly remove the splinter that is nothing but a minor hiccup couple with some satisfaction of the clean obstruction. But that is best case scenario. It can end up worse with leads to a deep embedded foreign object and the only way out is to hack away your skin with a safety pin. Let’s hope this week was just a simple splinter that can be removed and not the latter

Up18 (19)Rating 35
Philadelphia 76ersPhi5-7

Stone in your shoe - Yes this is very trivial problem to have but it is a problem none the less. When this occurs you are faced with the dilemma of stopping what you’re doing, taking your shoe off and removing this annoying object from your life. Or, you continue on your way, listening to your inner monologue that it is not that uncomfortable and perhaps, just perhaps it will move into a position between your toes thay will joy be uncomfortable and then you and the stone can both continue living your lif without any interference. The 76ers and Ben have had a few stones in their shoes this season, with possibly having the worst injury news amongst anyone losing multiple key plays for the year. They have however just received a new cornerstone for the franchise and are continuing to trudge along with the current stones obviously finding a comfortable place between the toes.

Down19 (14)Rating 33
Denver NuggetsDen5-7

The engine light comes on - This depends how much weight you put on that pesky little engine light on the dash board. Some people rush to the mechanics to see what is wrong. Some ignore it for some time and possibly for ever. Some may even choose to live with the motto ignorance is bliss and cover the light with some tape. Either way, it’s always annoying when it decides to light it’s beacon and make you question not only what could be wrong with the car but also question the fabric of life. On those rare occasions the light goes off on its own and all is restored. This was the hope for Kyrie this year but it appears the light is firmly staying on.

Down20 (17)Rating 31
Memphis GrizzliesMem4-8

Waving at wrong person - I am sure I am not the only one to have done this, but have you ever been out and about and you see someone that you don't recognise looking at you and then they wave. You are a nice and respectful person so you wave back, only to instantly realise they were not in fact looking or waving at you but to someone behind you. You immediately feel like an idiot and embarrassed, even though no one else probably noticed you still feel it. The Memphis roster is stacked but unfortunately they had an off week and are maybe feeling some unnecessary embarrassment.

21 (21)Rating 26
Dallas MavericksDal4-8

Tripping up steps - You could completely by yourself, with no one around and still feel utter embarrassment when you do this. There are two ways to handle this. You exaggerate the trip and almost make it seem comical, suggesting to anyone around you, that you know you have tripped and you feel silly. Or, you can break into a little job and almost play it off that you’re just in a rush and you never actually tripped. But deep down in your soul, no matter how well you sold it, you still know and feel like an idiot for doing it, but you carry on regardless and maybe got where you needed to be a little quicker. Dallas have been the talk of the NSL of late, seeming to trip into the deal of a lifetime and it would appear they have broken into a little jog, possibly getting to their desired result quicker.

Up22 (30)Rating 21
Utah JazzUtah5-7

Ignored when you give way - You are driving down the street and there is a car parked on the side of the road and another one approaching you. There is not enough room for you both to continue so out of the kindness of your heart you stop and give way. The other vehicle passes and instead of giving you a wave or even just raising one finger off the steering wheel you get nothing. Not a single sign of gratitude or decency. Not only is this disheartening about where did society go wrong, it is also quite infuriating, leaving me no choice but to curse the other driver out and feel bitterness for a short time. This kinda sums up Utah and their old GM, Jason. Becoming angry and bitter til the very end. We wish him well and hope their New GM Craig and uplift the spirits.

Up23 (24)Rating 19
Detroit PistonsDet4-10

Getting cut off in traffic - I am not sure why this creates such an emotional reaction. Some people get on the horn, some people scream out the window, some people don't react much and some people follow that car and try to get their own road rage revenge. I have done all of those things except the last, that seems a bit extreme. Detroit have some nice young talent and we will see how they handle themselves going forward.

Up24 (27)Rating 13
New Orleans PelicansNO3-9

Spilling coffee on your shirt - You wake up and it's a good hair day. You iron your shirt and get dressed. You are feeling extra dapper today. You get to your coffee shop and get your favourite brew. Everything is going your way. That is until you take another sip of your delicious coffee and it spills all down the front of your white shirt. What do you do..? you are too far from home to go back. You can buy a new one? try to hide it with an accessory or just embrace your mistake and wear it like a badge of honour. New Orleans have turned their heads to a rebuild, time will tell whether they will be wearing it like badge of honour or with shame.

25 (25)Rating 12
Orlando MagicOrl3-9

Missing you bus or train - It just hasn't been your morning. Sleeping through your alarm was the just the first of many issues to arise this morning. You finally leave the house, knowing you will be cutting it fine to make the public transport. You manage to find a park at the station and you see the train approaching. You slam the door and know if you have any shot at making it you need to run, which you do. Your cold and far from limber body start to trot towards the train. you get through the gate and approach the platform and has you get to the doors they shut in your face. You try to pull them open, but you can't. Not only have you missed your ride. You feel the hundred of eyes from inside the carriage staring at you. You feel embarrassed and angry and the only thing you can do it laugh or flip off the driver. Orlando are still in the rebuild stages but have some night talent at the top of their list. Let's see if they make the train leaving the station and see where the destination is.

Down26 (22)Rating 6
Brooklyn NetsBkn3-9

Partying neighbours - You have had a busy week at work. You're up early and going to bed late and on this specific day you are loving the idea of going to bed and getting some hard earned rest. You finally get sorted and slink into bed, ready to fall into the deepest of sleep. That is until you hear the bass start on your neighbours speakers. It is not quite shaking the windows but you can almost feel in in your body. And, to add insult to injury, the music playing is terrible. You lay there getting more and more worked up. Do you call the police? Do you knock on their door? Do you yell over the fence? all possible responses but none as satisfying as just being asleep would be. Although Brooklyn with the list that had were ready to have that glorious sleep, but the stupid neighbours music, AKA injuries have kept them up all night.

Up27 (28)Rating 2
Phoenix SunsPho2-10

ordering food and they get the order wrong - Imagine this, you've been craving this food all day or all week, and finally get it. You give your order to the staff member and pay. You wait with anticipation till your food gets made and given to you. You bring get it to go, so you can eat it in the comfort of your own home. You get set up on the couch with a TV show you're bing watching. You open the bag and realise the order is all wrong and not at all what you ordered or wanted... A wave of emotions hits you, anger, frustration, rage and regret. You can't be bothered gong back so you eat the meal anyway. Thats kinda how The Suns season has gone. Expecing something but getting another, mainly on the injury front. They can't seem to stay healthy, hopefully the meal they end up eating is still tasty.

Down28 (20)Rating 1
Toronto RaptorsTor3-10

Locking yourself out of the house - Doing this is far from ideal, speaking from my own personal experiences. I was just fortunate enough to have a dog door that I was able to squeeze through. In a worse case, one might have to break into their own home. Toronto have started a rebuild this year, so let's home they hold on to the keys to their own castle.

Down29 (23)Rating -3
Sacramento KingsSac2-11

Stubbing your toe - It is absolutely infuriating when you stub your toe on something, and it seems to often happen when you are already in a crappy mood. That kinda sums up the kings so far and I would imagine how Klemm is feeling, infuriated by the fact that he hasn't been able to consistently put his best team on the park every week. hopefully some consistency for their lineup is in the future.

Down30 (29)Rating -17
Boston CelticsBos1-11

Standing in dog poo - Boston without their fearless leader in jayson Tatum are having a very sub par year and it would seem that the shoes of the organisation definitely have some dog poo on them. Hopefully the young guys can develop and become contributors next season when they're healthy with the aim of keeping their soles clean.
