Kings vs Lakers
The 3
seed Kings vs the 6 seed Lakers ended up going to 5 games. The 95 percent of
GMs voted the Kings way and the experts (Dylan and Leeroy) both predicted the
the Kings victory 4-2. The Kings, led by the King in LeBron James and a veteran NLL/NSL GM in Klemm were just
too strong for the Lakers and their newbie GM, PJ.
Game 1
followed the path the punters predicted with the Kings winning by 19 points led
by Lebron James who had 31, 15 and 5. Point LeBron was fully activated getting
all his teammates involved and only taking 19 shots himself and the strategy
paid off.
Game 2
was a Victory to the Lakers in Sacramento, led by Tobias Harris who had 24
points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The victory was a surprise, especially
considering it was an away win. The Lakers pulled away in the 2nd and 3rd
quarter after a close first but the Kings came roaring back in the 4th and
final quarter but PJ and his squad managed to hold on to win by 7 points.
Game 3
(after a supposed scathing talk from Klemm after game 2) the Kings came out
looking like they were on a mission especially James who got the to the line 19
times! (for 14 makes). The Kings ended up cruising there way to a 24 point
victory on a well rounded team effort with the whole squad going 53 percent
from the field, 41 percent from the 3 point line and 78 percent from the free
throw line.
Game 4
and had LeBron decided after being a bit more deferential in the first few
games that he wanted to shoot and shoot a lot in this game, going for a whopping
50 points! The Lakers duo of Tobias Harris and Russell Westbrook did all they
could to get their team over the line but lacked any support from their role
players which ultimately led to their downfall by 11 points.
Game 5
got off to a shaky start for the Kings with them being down 35-21 to an
aggressive and focused Lakers. After the disappointing first quarter they
didn’t lose a quarter for the rest of the game, playing lockdown D and looking
for and finding open shots on the offensive end. James once again put on a
masterclass to the tune of 36 points, 8 assists and 4 rebounds.
In the
end the Lakers fought valiantly and I’m sure they will learn from this and will
come back better than ever next season but as for the season the Kings were the
better squad and it showed.
Well done
to both teams for making the playoffs and good luck to Klemm and the Kings in
the next round.
