NSL Insider - Heat vs Cavaliers Reviewby Andrew, updated on Saturday, May 09 2020, 07:18 pm EST Round one of the eastern conference playoffs has now been
run and won in an extremely close affair, even though the series ended after
six games every game was tight and a lucky basket here or there could have seen
a swing in results At the end of the day the heat ably led by PistolPK had just
a little too much in the tank for Cleveland and their GM Dylan. Both GM’s should be extremely proud of their efforts
throughout the season and a huge congrats to Pistol on progressing through to
the second round Series MVP The series MVP goes to none other then the Aussie phenom Ben
Simmons who through the six-game series dominated on all fronts. Finishing with
series stats of 21.3 points 7 rebounds 9.5 assists 2.7 steals and 1.2 blocks
per game. Despite the fact the Heat had some strong contributions Ben
was the catalyst behind the series victory Team of the series Point guard – Ben Simmons The MVP of course is the Point guard of the team an absolute
beast in all facets of the game and as already mentioned the keys to unlocking
the powerful Miami heat offence Shooting Guard – C. McCollum The Ying to the
Simmons Yang was a critical piece in making the leap not only to the playoffs
but advancing into the second round. CJ is one of those players that kind of
flies under the radar as a second fiddle. I’m sure Pistol considers CJ a very
key piece though. Finishing round one with a series stat’s of 21.8 points 4.0
rebounds and 4.8 assists per game Small Forward – Paul George No one can argue Paul George is the clear-cut leader of the
Cavs outfit, and during the 1st round series did everything possible
to get the Cavs team over the line unfortunately for GM Dylan he just fell short.
With a series high average of 24.7 points 6 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game
he was 2 wins away from a series MVP win Power Forward – Paul Millsap Another of the undervalued bunch in the form of veteran Paul
Millsap but again like his teammate in CJ GM Pistol knows his value and that
shone through when replacing Thon Maker as the starting power forward and
playing a perfect role in closing out the series in the ensuing 5 games While not quite the bucket getter thon is Paul is just a
better overall player finishing with 13.7 point 6.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists
per game Centre – DeAndre Jordan Position number 5 and the 4th Heat player
selected, and a pretty good reason why the Heat managed to get this series in
the bag, he simply outplayed youngster Jarett Allen in the key categories Points Jordan 13.0 vs Allen 8.7 Rebounds Jordan 11.8 vs Allen 7.0 DeAndre got this one, but Allen is the future 6th Man – Thon Maker Thon was the starter in game one for the Heat but Pistol
seen the light and promoted thon to the bench where he dominated and was a key
reason behind the series victory. Regardless of what happens with the heat from
here Thon has proven to be a six-man star So there we have it my purely unbiased team of the series
the fact 5 players from the heat (in my humble opinion were chosen is a credit
to the heat and GM Pistol for his hard work, the Cavs were strong though and
Dylan has this team primed for a massive future |
