by jessedunne, updated on Monday, May 24 2021, 12:04 pm EST

Utah:

Name: Jason Pitts

Age: 27

Location: Melbourne

Occupation: Architect

Nick Name: Pittbull

Favourite Sporting Team in the World: Sacramento Kings

Biggest Fear: Women

Greatest Achievement: Women

Why do you love the NSL: Love to trade

Favourite GM: Merencio

Which Pop Culture/Sporting Star had biggest influence on you growing up: Peja Stojakovic is the Goat

All Time Favourite Movie: Interstellar every day of the week

All Time Favourite Song: Dancing in the Moonlight - Toploader

All Time Favourite Book: Factfulness

Life Motto you live by: No regrets

OKC
:

Name: Brian
Age: 37
Location: Indianapolis, IN, USA
Occupation: Application Developer
Nick Name: wizkid? That's just what I happened to sign up for NLL with when I was like 16. Not really any real-life nicknames.
Favourite Sporting Team in the World: Purdue Boilermakers (NCAA football/basketball)
Biggest Fear: Some heights probably? Not any crazy/odd fears.
Greatest Achievement: Continuing to raise my six children with my wife is certainly the thing I put effort into that matters to me most - and it's not really close. I don't think it really becomes and "achievement" until I'm done with it though!
Why do you love the NSL: Reading through Pete's answer really spoke to me - maybe it's the "work" aspect of it that we share - but some days I'm closer to quitting than loving it. I love that it's continued to be a pretty positive community that, despite the occasional drama, seems to move past it and get back to enjoying things.
Favourite GM: I'm friends with spudspace and bandrsn10 in real life so that gives them a pretty big head start on everybody else. From everybody else, I've probably talked about non-NLL stuff with Smokey and Pete most and always enjoy catching up about where everybody is at in real life. A lot of great connections from this league and I don't get to spend as much time as I'd like getting to know everybody else.
Which Pop Culture/Sporting Star had biggest influence on you growing up: I don't know that he had much "influence" on me - but Stephon Marbury was pretty easily my favorite player for quite a while. I always like to follow any of the guys on my NLL/NSL teams a bit, but don't really get into "celebrities" much at all.
All Time Favourite Movie: Beautiful Mind is usually what I would go with. Favorite categories would probably be sci-fi/fantasy and comedy in general though.
All Time Favourite Song: Kind of depends what I'm doing/mood I'm in/etc. At this point it would probably surprise people - including some real life friends - that some rappers like Juice WRLD, Lil Peep, the Kid Laroi are pretty frequently on my playlist.
All Time Favourite Book: I read a decent amount of philosophy, some Christian, some not. Most of my favorites are fantasy series. Currently about half way through the Wheel of Time series (dang it's long).
Life Motto you live by: There's not one I like wake up every morning thinking of. Most of my worldview comes from my faith and the accompanying need to treat everyone with grace and dignity.

Suns:

Name: Christopher(Chris) Ladewig
Age: 34
Location: Kalgoorlie(Google it, it sucks), Western Australia
Occupation: Communications/Instrumentation/Electrician
Nick Name: Laddas
Favourite Sporting Team in the World: Arsenal, Lakers, North Melbourne, LA Chargers(Herbert Express choo choo!)
Biggest Fear: Deep Ocean, Heights
Greatest Achievement: Completion of 3 different Trades/Professions, Being apart of breaking away from the NLL(muhaha)
Why do you love the NSL: Community and the banter that comes with it. All the lads and different personalities. The best representation of being a GM out there and how far we've come in less than 2 years.
Favourite GM: Too hard to nail it down to just one. Most people are great value for different reasons.
Which Pop Culture/Sporting Star had biggest influence on you growing up: Kobe Bryant. Was everything to me growing up. Took it pretty hard at his shock death.
All Time Favourite Movie: Almost anything from Guy Ritchie(The english crime genre movies like Snatch, Lock Stock, Rock n Rolla, The Gentleman etc.) Bourne Series, Star Wars, Marvel, Batman Trilogy(Christian Bale), The Departed, White Men Cant Jump, Blood Diamond, The Wolf of Wall Street, Inception(almost anything Leo tbh), Bad Boys trilogy
All Time Favourite Song: Short Change Hero - The Heavy, Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen, Humble - Kendrick Lamar
All Time Favourite Book: Not much of a reader but did start and finish the Godfather which was a really good read.
Life Motto you live by: "I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become."

Nets:

Name: Beau
Age: 30
Location: Melbourne, Australia
Occupation: Teacher
Nick Name: No Nickname
Favourite Sporting Team in the World: Manchester United

Biggest Fear: Losing someone close.
Greatest Achievement: Travelling overseas and playing as an athlete and finding a career path that I am passionate about.
Why do you love the NSL: the in-depth nature of the league and the ability to incorporate many of my loves and passions. An unflinching community that feels the same way – the ability to have power over decision making and live and die by them. The dedication of many and the sheer love and involvement of all. It is one of a kind – and I consider myself luck to be apart of it.
Favourite GM: Oooooft! Hard to pick! I would have to go with PistolPk – his level of involvement, openness, and professionalism towards the NSL. Have to go with Pete. Big ups to many other GMs – spoilt for talent and calibre.
Which Pop Culture/Sporting Star had biggest influence on you growing up: I would have to go with two – from a literary/music stand point Leonard Cohen, who made the world of the written word seem other worldly and make me want to become a writer. And from a sporting perspective - Ronaldo (the OG) – I was amazed by the OG; his poise, his finesse, his power, his explosive energy. He was enigmatic in his ability to use the ball – I would watch clips and see myself or who I wanted to be on the pitch.
All Time Favourite Movie: Huge movie buff – I cannot choose one so I’ll give 10 films from various genres: Pan’s Labyrinth, Goodfellas, Life is Beautiful, Spirited Away, Alien, Blade Runner, Memento, Scream, The Wailing, Train to Busan
All Time Favourite Song: Once again! Huge Music Buff! I’ll go with a song that continues to bring life – Thunder Road by Bruce Springsteen.
All Time Favourite Book: The Hobbit or Watchmen
Life Motto you live by: Act the way you'd like to be and soon you'll be the way you act.

Magic:

Name: Gavin Cruse

Age: 30

Location: Melbourne, Australia

Occupation: Landscape Gardener

Nick Name: Gav

Favourite Sporting Team in the World: Richmond Tigers (AFL)

Biggest Fear: Being Forgotten

Greatest Achievement:The friends ive managed to surround myself with over the years, wouldn't be the person i am today without them.

Why do you love the NSL: Its as close as you can get to running a real life franchise. Didn't care about anything else besides building a team back in the nba live/2k days, so now i dont even bother buying the game anymore haha. Also the NSL community is great to talk all things basketball.

Favourite GM: Joel, but he wins everything. So ill go with Laddas or Klemm

Which Pop Culture/Sporting Star had biggest influence on you growing up: Matthew Richardson, had the pleasure of meeting him a few times when i was young as well. Just a champion person and a champion player.

All Time Favourite Movie: Happy Gilmore for a comedy or Gone Girl for blowing my mind

All Time Favourite Song: Angels & Airwaves - Sirens or OMC - How Bizzare

All Time Favourite Book: Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less by Jeffrey Archer

Life Motto you live by: Everything happens for a reason
