Warriors decisions loom large

Warriors GM Clay did not hold back in his latest presser.

“We think we are a top five team, talent and scheme wise, in the league. If we could get everyone on the floor at the same time in the playoffs, I think we have a legitimate shot against anyone.”

Titles continued: “The problem is, we need to see these guys together so we can make a decision on our future. It’s know secret that our two pillars are expiring… we’re waiting on an Ayton extension but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen…”

With these words, the “is Zach going to be traded” fire is likely to roar back up, as the Warriors don’t want to be caught holding their own hands if Zach walks in free agency for nothing.

The buzz around the league is the star guard won’t be traded, but the situation does force Titles and the Dubs’ Front Office to keep their minds open. Luckily, they have bird rights for Zach, and Ayton is a RFA come this off season.

Woj has reported that he doesn’t see either star in Oakland being moved, but the playoff push will be a big determining factor.

On the ‘Klemm and Cornhill’ podcast, Woj commented on the situation in the Bay.

“If the Warriors face another massive COVID outbreak and find themselves on the outside looking in come trade deadline time, there could be immense pressure from the fans to make some tough decisions. However, everything I’m hearing shows that the front office is willing to push that deadline to the very last moment in order to keep their beloved stars. Time will tell, and it’s going to be captivating to keep an eye on.”

The Warriors have clawed their way from 10th in the standings to 8th as of week 10 behind the stellar play of DeAndre Ayton who notched his first POTW award ever in week 7. The Warriors ascension goes as Ayton does, but can he continue to produce against the league’s elite?
