Pick 57: Vincent Valerio-Bodon

There�s been
a bit of a time lag since our last article about the 76ers draft day, but we�re
back now to take a look at the next 76er hopeful drafted back in the July
draft.
In the back
end of the draft the 76ers opted to take some fliers on undrafted NBA guys, and
after claiming Audige at pick 56, they now were back on the clock for pick 57.
With the 57th
pick in the NSL draft, the Philadelphia 76ers select�
Vincent Balerio-Bodon.
Age: 22
Position: SF/PF

Valerio-Bodon
comes with little fanfare as you might expect from a guy who wasn�t even drafted
in the NBA but has the size and skillset to be at least an intriguing type if
he ever lands anywhere of note. He�s a 6�10 wing with a sweet stroke from deep,
can handle, and likes to play both ends of the court. The Hungarian big man
first came onto the scene a coupe of years ago and finally nominated this year
only to not have his name called.
Playing for
Sopron KC last year he averaged a not so page leaping 8 points, 4 rebounds, 2
assists and a steal and block per game in 25 minutes, while shooting 50/41/88
splits, which saw him sign on with the Boston Celtics for Summer League. He
only played in one game however, though he made his presence felt in that game
scoring 13 points with 6 rebounds, 3 assists and a block on 50/50/100. He did
however commit 6 turnovers, a couple of which were unavoidable cleaning up from
others mistakes.
Vincent is
still on the radar for a 2way deal in Boston this year due to his size and
versatility, but will have to earn it during training camp. The likelihood is we
see him in Europe for another year at least.
The 76ers
are happy to own his rights, whether his career sends him.
