Pick 36: Jaylen Clark

Philly Frills: 17/07/2023
The other day we started looking at the draft just past. Continuing to
look at the 76er draft in the wake now of Summer league, we move to their next
selection.
The second pick in this draft ended up being early in the 2nd
round, after the shifted out of Pick 34 for three future 2nd round
picks. The next pick they drafted with was Pick 36, and they always had just
one target here.
With the 36th pick in the NSL draft, the Philadelphia 76ers
select
Age: 21
Position: SG/SF
Height: 65
NBA Draft Spot: 53rd
NBA Team: Minnesota Timberwolves
Jaylen Clark came onto the 76er radar late in the scene after he slid
down the NBA draft on draft day due to his achilles injury suffered late in the
college season. Before he went down, he was mocking anywhere from the teens to
the 30s as the best perimeter defender in the draft and showing development of
a reliable 3 point shot. Hes a fiend defensively, locking down positions 1-3
with a 69 wingspan and amazing quickness and intensity, which projects to be
exactly the type of player the 76ers covet, particularly after the departure of
Matisse Thybulle a season ago.
Clark may not take the court next season in the NBA or NSL, but that wont
matter. He will rehab with NBA level doctors on a 2 year, 2way deal, so he wont
bother the 76ers with a roster spot or salary next season, before being healthy
for the 24/25 season and trying to earn his contract. Then, look for the 76ers
to showcase their prized defensive specialist.
The team is excited to welcome Jaylen Clark to the team, and look
forward to rehabbing him back to full strength so that he can be their wing of
the future.
