76er Watch: Gabe Vincent

Philly Frills: 15/11/2022
The 76ers
are relatively deep this year which means that guys who are possible rotation
guys are outside looking in, waiting for an opportunity. On such player is Gabe
Vincent. He came across in the Kemba/Springer/Naz/Shamet
deal as a comparative afterthought to level out salaries and roster spots, but
was always viewed as much more by the 76er manager.
Gabe was
always viewed by us as pretty much a direct replacement for Landry in that
deal, but on minimum money. They match up pretty same across the ratings board,
but much more upside in Gabe. We think he can be a rotational guy as early as
this year, if the role presents.
And now
months down the line, when Kemba and Springer left shortly after, Gabe is all
that remains of the deal, and its becoming more evident why. Hes putting up
10 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal in the NBA in a further increased
role from last year, and is being spoken of as the eventual starter replacement
for Kyle Lowry as his 36 year old frame slows down. He outperformed Kyle in the
playoffs and has developed into their reliable reserve guard who can be leaned
upon for more. Hes a tenacious defender,
3 level scorer and an improving playmaker, and would seemingly be in
line for some ratings changes in the future, even if not immediately.
For now,
Gabe remains outside of the 10 man rotation, even with Donte DiVincenzo missing
games, but after week one if things arent looking good on the bench, that
could change quickly. He will play a role in Philly, soon.
Stay tuned
for more stories of how the 76er depth is developing as the year goes on and we
look to continue to build and compete into the future.
