The 76er Main Men

Philly Frills: 7/11/2022
As expected,
both Donte DiVincenzo and Caleb Martin opted to return to the Philadelphia
76ers via restricted free agency, and so now begs the question of the teams rotation
leading into the 1st week of the season.
Unlike last
year, the 76ers have a healthy stock of big men lead by veterans Steven Adams
and Al Horford. A far cry from needing to start rookie Omer Yurtseven most of
the year, and DayRon Sharpe as a key rotational piece. Dont get me wrong,
both kids performed valiantly and will be key in the rotation again, but unless
theres a major injury they wont be relied upon to be the only big men this
year. Thats a big upgrade.
Draymond
Green is back, and will likely fill a true utility role this year rather than
be locked into a power forward spot like the past. Hes a capable forward at
both spots, and his playmaking and lack of offensive game should mesh well with
getting the ball into the hands of Wiggins and Fox as much as possible. Theres
no longer an chance of Draymond lining up at point guard, but that shouldnt
mean the ball wont swing through his hands setting up teammates.
Andrew
Wiggins is of course the key offseason acquisition after the short tenure of CJ
McCollum. Wiggins will start every game he can this year and will be a major
focal point alongside Fox, who could again look like an MVP while healthy and locked
in. Wiggins will likely play both wing spots, depending on the weeks match ups,
and other injury factors, and will need to be dropping 20+ points a night you
would imagine.
Fox is back
on the court and is looking as keyed in as he has in his career. He seems to be
rocking a new 3pt shot this year, at least to start the season, while
maintaining his typically high scoring from inside the arc too with his
lightening speed. Hes the main man in Philly and will be the start and often
the end of the 76er offence with ratings boosts already looming on the horizon.
The 76ers
are sporting greater depth this year, which is key, and exactly how this will
shape up on the court will be decided in the coming days.
