*Gasp* What are San Antonio doing?
The offseason is literally hours old and team with the best record in the NSL through season 2021-22 have shipped off Jimmy Buter, Nerlens Noel and Larry Nance.. What is happening?
Woj is reporting that an agreement to move Lebron James may be in the final stages of being signed off, if not completed already as a 3-team blockbuster is set to send further ripples through the NSL community. San Antonio fans have been seen yelling in the streets screaming, "What the f*&% is Nelson doing?!" as concerns about the sanity of the GM and direction of the once formidable franchise begin to surface.
It's believed that by trade season's end, the Spurs should hold a bounty of picks, unseen since GM Nelson took the reigns during inauguration stages of the NSL, headlining the treasure chest is 3 high lottery picks in this year's draft.
But what happens next and who will actually be left standing on the roster? If Lebron and Jimmy are, as reports suggest, gone, who will headline the franchise in the coming season? What does this mean for the 3rd member of the big 3, defensive superstar Jrue Holiday? Will he become the new face of the franchise and finally get to showcase his offensive arsenal or will he join two of the top 20 players in the game on their way out the door?
For now, the reports on Jrue are quiet but the lights on at Spurs head office and constant ringing of telephones, clearly audible from the visitors car park, would suggest there's more Woj-bombs to come. Early rumours of newly acquired Kelly Oubre suggest he's involved in another serious deal as a potential wing scoring option for draft capital, however GM Nelson is yet to leak any official word to the media.
The only thing set in stone at this point is the Spurs have pick 2 in the draft. If the rumours are in fact true, 2, 5 and 7 could be in the possession of the Spurs by as soon as the end of the week which will now mean a franchise with minimal interest in the draft will now become one of, if not THE, major player in the upcoming NSL draft.
What tricks are the Spurs management working on at the moment? Is this a full scale blow up and should we cancel our season tickets? Is it Jabari or Chet or someone else who has caused this full scale shake up?
As the dust settles Spurs management assures us, it will all become clearer soon.
Pray for the Spurs. Pray for Klemm.
