NSL Insider - Premium: NSL Christmas Listby Toby, updated on Tuesday, January 09 2024, 08:03 am EST NSL CHRISTMAS LIST Seeing as it is the holiday season and Christmas has only just come and gone, I thought it might be fitting to see what some of the teams around the league may have had on their Christmas lists. Atlanta Hawks Atlanta had five first rounds picks with three of them coming in the lottery. Funny enough their two picks in the late teens have been doing amazing in the NBA, being Brandon Podziemski and Jaime Jaquez Jr. However their three lottery picks are yet to make any noise on the big stage. The Hawks are hoping that their top picks in, Hendricks, Walker and Dick get some more run and development going forward. Boston Celtics Bostons wish list remains the same as it always has, let the young guys grow. But they specifically need someone to take the next step. Of late that is looking to be Jonathan Kuminga, but only time will tell. They also have high hopes that their young stud big man, Alperen Sengun can become an all star for the first time in his young career. Brooklyn Nets It has been the story of the nets the last couple seasons, but health, staying healthy is at the top of their Christmas list. Currently Markkanen is out, Irving has and will miss some time, and they finally have Murray back healthy. With everyone on the court, they have a really nice squad, they just need to get them there and for them to stay there. Charlotte Hornets A simple one here, Ja Morant to return and stay out of trouble. Ja is clearly one of the best young players in the league, and as everyone is aware, has made some mistakes of recent times, leading to a lengthy suspension. Morant will be back very shortly for the Hornets and lets hope he can stay out of the news and away from suspension. Cleveland Cavaliers Brunson has already outplayed expectations when he signed as a FA a couple of seasons ago, but there is one wish for that Cavs that is coming true before our eyes. That wish is Scottie Barnes. I think he also has outplayed expectations of what his third season would look like. He has been amazing out of the gate, and is looking like a franchise players. Dallas Mavericks Playing time. Playing time for their young guys is what they are wishing for. The Mavs have quite a young roster, but out of the 15 guys, 7 to 8 of them are not getting any minutes in the NBA or are but in the G league. In order for this roster to continue to develop these guys will eventually need to get some meaningful minutes and take steps forward. Golden State Warriors This one is quite simple their pick back. The warriors do not own their own pick until 2028. With how this season is looking so far, I am sure getting any of their picks back is on all possible wish lists, whether Christmas, birthdays or Easter. Utah Jazz Another blockbuster deal. Utah have made amazing moves to get them where they are now but I do not believe they are finished. I am aware some talks have been conducted where Utah are sending multiple assets for another upgrade. They would definitely be a powerhouse if this eventuates. Washington Wizards The wizards are wishing for clarity. At the moment they are torn between their young guys and the stars on their roster. I know the GM adores his young studs, in Black Ivey and Ayton, but also obviously loves his all stars in Booker and George. I am sure their have been offers involving his young high prospects, whether he wants to condense for another contender type player or lets his young flowers blossom. Indiana Pacers Not burn too many bridges Maybe I am speaking out of turn, but I have heard first hand of deals been offered by Indy and when accepted by the other GM, the deal has been backed out of. Who am I to comment though, from all accounts I am not the easiest to deal with, but id assume this isnt the way to a good reputation, hopefully this wont affect relationships going forward. Portland Trailblazers One last hoorah! Of late Portland have flirted with the idea of a rebuild or retool, but I would imagine what they really want is one last hoorah, proving his dominance to the rest of the league. The endings to last season still do no sit well with him, so perhaps some payback may also be on the wish list. Milwaukee Bucks Set a new wins record. I am not sure exactly what the wins record is currently at, I think 70 something, set by either Portland or San Antonio. With the Bucks only having dropped one game thus far, I would say having eyes on the wins record is more than realistic. Lets see if the squad lead by SGA has it in them. Minnesota Timberwolves Get our boy Butler back. Butler who is well known for his toughness, has unfortunately uncharacteristically missed a bit of time this season. I dont believe it is anything too serious and the Wolves have still been doing well, but I am sure the GM is more than ready to have their fearless leader back. |
