Warriors all in on Dubs with retool

After a relatively mediocre first two seasons in the NSL, GM Titlesorbust decided it was time to make a push for some talent to help their young core of Zach Lavine and DeAndre Ayton.

It took some time, but the short tenured GM may have figured out the side and trade market in free agency finally, as the front office got creative while filling out the roster.

The first whispers of a potential S&T sending Kyle Lowry to Oakland surfaced nearly a month prior to FA, and the deal was thought to include Andrew Wiggins. It turns out, Wiggins would be shipped, but in a separate deal.

Half of the rumor was true, as the Warriors were able to move some pieces around and persuaded Kyle Lowry that California was the place to continue his career.

In exchange for the ex-Villanova star’s service, the Warriors were hesitant but required to give up some depth pieces that had helped them barely make the playoffs last year. Young budding wing Dylan Brooks and blossoming big man Jakob Poeltl were both sent to Detroit in the S&T deal the evening of Free Agency day. A wing that Titles worked hard to acquire, Troy Brown Jr., was also sent to Detroit.

The overwhelming reaction to the deal was that the Warriors FINALLY have a point guard. Let’s see how many wins the old veteran can add to the tally, as Titles seems to have turned a corner in team building.

As FA Day wrapped up, some were happy for the Warriors getting their guy and assumed the mediocre Western squad was done… However, Titles had another move up his sleeve.

In yet another S&T deal, taking a page out of the Arturas Karnisovas playbook, the Warriors were able to acquire early 6MOY nominee Spencer Dinwiddie from the Los Angeles Lakers. The Warriors said “good-bye” to recent draft picks Duane Washington and Aaron Wiggins, along with Gary Harris and a future 1st round draft choice.

“We’ve had depth, but I’m not sure we’ve had guys on our bench that could start for other teams. It feels that way now.” Clay commented to the media on the acquisition of Dinwiddie from Los Angeles. Spencer is expected to backup Kyle Lowry off the bench for the Warriors.

Floating below the minimum roster limit, the Warriors were in desperate need of some depth, and were able to find some in a deal that sent 2K specialist Andrew Wiggins to the rebuilding Los Angeles Lakers. To fill out their roster, the Warriors were able to add former Michigan Wolverine Timothy Hardaway, swingman Josh Jackson, and point guard Tre Jones.

“We’ll see where Josh and Tre end up in the rotation, I trust [Steve] Kerr to make those proper decisions when it comes to on the court production. We’ve got some other guys that could push the veterans for minutes like Nassir and of course Ziaire Williams.”

The Warriors also quietly added veteran forward Paul Millsap in free agency to slide into the four spot next to DeAndre Ayton.

Here’s to a season that won’t leave us on the outside looking in after round one!
