Shake it Up

Lets talk about the Grizz's latest addition, Shake Milton

<a href=Shake Milton Stats, News, Bio | ESPN">

For a few weeks now, and even mentioned in the previous article, Shake was a target that the front office were chasing. His size, shooting, and point guard eligibilty were seen as key weapons to add to the backcourt and to feature as a scoring 6/7th man which would complement the Azubuike/Mitch Robinson offensive rebounding presence from the bench. Grizz management had been pretty steadfast in their offer for Shake, considering his pending free agency and the teams impending shortage of funds come free agency. While the team has full bird rights for Shake, they may not go too much further into the tax to retain him and really look to use him as a all-in weapon for this offseason. Eventually a slight adjustment to which seconds would be enough to get his services in Memphis were agreed upon and the team was able to get their target. His addition alone costs 12 GMs in tax at the end of the season, basically 1 power ranking.
This does bring with it a problem that is good to have, how to balance play between Shake, Jevon, and Ziaire in the backcourt rotation.
Jevon has been amazing since landing in Memphis, in the 8 games (as of writing) he has shot 60% from 3 with just over 2 per game, has only committed 2 turnouver against 18 assists, and has basically been everything you want from a back up point guard. Safe hands and efficient shooting.
Then you have Ziaire Williams, who plays as a big SG this week, and has shot 53% from the floor and 38% from 3. He gets boards, plays good defence, and shares the rock. A helpful player to have on the floor at all times.
The players will be in the gym working out their rotations all weekend and will look to settle in over the next week, but expect this part of the rotation to be in flux.
The team has been faced with another complexity with star player Jaylen Brown suffering a facial fracture, which may see him miss some time. The team is hopeful not too many games will be missed once the initial healing and a face mask is produced, but the team values the health of the player and their availability come playoffs, so Jaylen wont be rushed back. Perhaps this brings Shake into a starter role, and the back up rotation can stay as healthy as it has been over the last few weeks.
