NSL Insider - Unpopular Predictions

Unpopular Predictions

These are some unpopular predictions that I have, the season could go many different ways and that is something I love about the league. We see it happen year after year, events we never saw possible happen, both good and bad. The league has more parity than ever and with the draft not being very good the incentive to lose is not there. This is only for fun and not to put any of these teams down. Good luck to every team, very excited for my 2nd season!

  1. Pacers will not make it past the 1st round. I love Yeet and think his team is on the right track, but they dont have the best depth and this will also be Yeets first time GMing in actually due to the NLL collapsing before the season could start. The adjustments with 2k can be hard and you have to really know what you are doing. I feel I had a solid team last year myself, but ended up losing to the Raptors in 7. Dylan had the experience on me and knew adjustments that needed to be made mid series. Its really a big necessity when it comes to being GM as you only have 7 games at max in the series.
  2. Grizzlies finish as the top seed in the West. The team is so well rounded and the position rule change works well in their favor having some dominant bigs that can play PF/C and also another year of developing for their players. I think Portland will be really good but the new position change make it hard to dominate the glass as they always have. The may still dominate the glass but no longer do they have two centers that grab every rebound and win the game automatically that way. The Spurs will also have a shot at being the top seed and it will be dependent on what happens with James Harden, Giannis is really good but they gotta have the depth for the regular season to be 1st seed.
  3. Chet will win our ROTY. Wemby is good and should dominate, but Chet could dominate having a unique build and with Wembys health being a priority on a losing team in San Antonio they could very well shut him down out of worry. Chet should translate to 2k and bigs usually have a better shot at this award since they have more rebounds and look better defensively having more blocks.
  4. Pelicans will look like title contenders. Having Luka come to town and the emergence of the youth makes this team look very promising. Siakam should be really good as the 2nd option alongside Luka, Austin Reaves may take that step that you always wonder when guys will in 2k. Dereck Lively should be a good player right off the bat making a good room of bigs with WCJ, Siakam, and maybe even bringing Kevin Love back who is a good 2k guy with great rebounding. Leeroy will have the task of filling in some spots through FA, but this team had a great base and should do well if healthy.
  5. The Lakers will be in the play-ins. You would think no way with the changes this offseason and Cade being healthy again, but the West is that good. I am projecting, Portland, San Antonio, Memphis, Minnesota, OKC, New Orleans, and the Jazz to all finish over them, so I feel like the 7 seed or later is a good spot for them to fall. Drummond will be a nice addition, but there is a lack of depth for the Lakers in a stacked Western conference.
  6. Minnesota will not be a Top 4 seed. As good as Ethan has gotten the Timberwolves to look, they will have the problem of injuries and depth in season. The depth could be fixed during free agency, but I feel only so much could be done with it in both the cap room sense and GM points able to be spent. Butler and Davis both may miss some games and the guys who must fill their places arent anything close to the level those two are.
  7. No team will win less than 20 games. By the way the preseason has looked is that many games are close and theres not as big of a difference in teams as before. This may be because of the position rules, but in the past there has always been a team to win under 20 games. There are not many teams trying to lose and teams are closer to each other than ever before.
  8. No team will win more than 65 games. This goes along with the teams in the league being similar in talent and there not being as much domination. Last season Portland and San Antonio made it over that point, but Portland has since traded Drummond and San Antonio has some problems going on with Harden. Memphis could hit the mark with the talent, but they lack a two way point guard and the depth at both guard spots is pretty thin.
