Gobert Gone
Rudy Gobert
Rudy was brought in this offseason by Wolves GM Ethan to be an enforcer in the paint and rim deterrent, and that is exactly what he was for the Timberwolves in his 13 week tenure. Rudy put up 11 points per game, 17 rebounds per game and 2.7 blocks per game, some fantastic numbers for the french big man. The blocked shots don't show you enough about Rudy's defensive impact, the amount of shots he alter in a game is obscene.

Why The Change?
The Wolves have been one of the top 4 teams in the Western Conference again this season, with one of the better defences in the league. With LaMelo missing 7 weeks to start the year, we were quite surprised with how well the team was playing and clicking, we thought LaMelo's addition may have pushed us up a level to a true contender. However, it became quite evident that we weren't a true contender and more of a team that can rack up regular season wins.
The Deal
Minnesota Receive: Al Horford, Alex Caruso, OKC 23 1st, PHI 27 1st
Philadelphia Receive: Rudy Gobert, Haywood Highsmith
This particular deal came to fruition quite quickly, with a few small back and forth messages with GM Nenjabin. Al Horford, while not as impactful as he was in previous years, is still a serviceable big man, Horford's declining salary next year was quite an intriguing piece of this deal, clearing 18m off the books while not losing a rotation player seems like good business. On top of that you throw in one of the best perimeter defenders in the league and 2 first round picks and it seems like a decent return for Gobert and the impact he brings.

Regret?
Often I am left feeling regret after some trades, maybe that's because I become to attached to the players I have on my team. Do I have any regrets about this trade? No, but what I do have some level of regret about is moving Brandon Ingram for Gobert. A young big 3 of Lamelo, Barnes and Ingram is pretty damn enticing, versatile and skilled. We pushed the chips in too early trying to go for it and while we looked good at times, we never looked like a true contender.

Until next time! Go Wolves
