Mid-Season highlights

It’s midseason, which means we are halfway through the season, which means it’s week 10, which means that it’s the halfway point of this NSL season. We are have way through the season ok? Got it? Good. So lets talk about how the season has gone so far for our NSL Indiana Pacers.

Record: 22-14, 7th in the east.

Indiana had a strong start to the season, being second in the east through the first two weeks of the season. Then as the season went on, the Pacers slowly fell down the rankings. This happened because other teams got healthy, and the injury bug finally caught up to them. With the team now sitting at 7th in the east, if the season ended today, they would be battling it out in the ply in for one of the last two playoff spots, hopefully not repeating last season. However, just because Indiana has slowly fallen down the rankings, doesn’t mean all is lost, as some players have really stepped up this season, let's highlight a few of these players.

Victor Wembanyama: 21.4ppg, 15.2rpg, 2apg, 2.3spg, 2.7bpg, 59/39/83 splits.

Wemby, the franchise player, the alien, Slenderman. One of a kind is the reigning NSL DPOY and so far it looks like he’s already running away with the award again this season, as not only is he 3rd in rpg, he also leads the league in blocks, AND steals this season, crazy huh? Wemby has been playing like a top player this season and should not only be an AllStar again, but also win DPOY again while also making his second all NSL team. But he isnt along this season as he isnt the only Pacer having a career year.

Mikal Bridges: 23.6ppg, 4.4rpg, 2.9apg, 1.2spg, 48/38/73 splits.

Mikal bridges came over in the offseason blockbuster that shipped out Pascal Siakam, and man, has a change of scenery done Mikal wonders. Averaging a career high 23.6ppg, a staggering 7 more ppg than his career last season of 17ppg. Cause of that, Mikal has fit alongside wemby perfectly as the number 2 star of the team, helping Indy to the 7th seed in the east. Because of that Mikal could be looking at putting himself in the running for some awards this season, like MIP for example. Either way, unless a major move is made by the deadline, Mikal should only continue to grow and impress.

Norman Powell: 15.3ppg, 4.6rpg, 3apg, 1spg, 43/39/87 splits.

Powell is having a solid season for Indy this year, having his second highest scoring and rebound season of his career, powell has looked great next to rozier and mikal, forming a highly dangerous trio between them. While Rozier is scoring more, powell has had more of an impact with his defense, averaging a steal a game. Powell was brought in to be a scoring menace and shooting threat and has done exactly that. And with rozier recently being moved the bench, the opportunities should only open up for Powell as the season goes on.
