Mann, what a deal!

After arriving back in San Antonio via trade with the Timberwolves, Terance Mann is set to sign a two-year extension on top of his rookie deal.

The deal is expected to be a
two-year, $22 million contract extension with the Spurs, according to Marc Spears of The Undefeated. Mann, the No. 48 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, initially signed a four-year minimum contract with the Clippers upon being drafted and has done the grand tour of the NSL league since.

Mann looks set for a break-out season with the Spurs after doing the rounds on multiple rosters across the league. Since the beginning of the NSL, Mann has played for 7 different franchises including Indiana, Charlotte, Lakers, Sacramento, Philadelphia, Minnesota and San Antonio. Mann's return to San Antonio makes it his 8th move in just 2 years but his extension blocks any further trading for 6 months, meaning he may finally be able to unpack his bags.

When asked about what he can bring to the defending champions Mann announced, "I think my outside game will help Jrue, Jimmy and Bron get to their spots with a bit more space on the floor. I just want to give this team energy and learn as much as I can from such a talented core group."

The trade that brought Mann back to the Spurs was barely discussed in forums, possibly indicating the trade making sense for both teams. The Spurs quickly moved off champion team mates Lillard and Covington as they fought the Cap-Squeeze coming this offseason. The full trade details on the Covington-Mann deal are below.

Trade:
Minnesota Timberwolves receive: Robert Covington
San Antonio Spurs receive:  Terance Mann and Dorian Finney-Smith

Spurs GM Nelson is optimistic this deal will be looked back on as another positive deal for his franchise as they look to defend the title in 2021. "We love Mann's workethic and fit around our star players. Jimmy and Jrue are champions and Lebron is hungry to get his first chip in the NSL. We feel with a few little additions and retaining the core players in Free Agency that we can do enough to be right there again this season. We can't wait to see the growth in Terance's game this season."
