Oh! It's Just You...
Dead in the water? No, you had to be alive at some point to be considered "dead"! Again, we're here -- basking in what is the dumpster fire that is the NSL Dallas Mavericks. The "cant-catch-a-break crew" is at it again, loss after loss, heartache after heartache. This season cannot come to an end soon enough for the Dallas hopeful...and we're are not at the all-star break yet!
In the dread that is this season for the lowly Mavs, the front office is still working diligently to make some deals before the trade deadline to solidify the team's future. The Mavericks, as it stands, seem to be a seller in the market as of today. General Manager, LJ Maverick, is well aware of cap implications as the team stands well below the threshold but has many young stars still on their current rookie deals and will be garnering attention in that front soon. The team needs to be careful on who they decide to extend in the coming years but do look poised for a great future with the young talent they have acquired. The unexpected rebuild, as it were, came with many costs, though. Unfortunate costs.
What of their prized and best player, Bobby Portis? Who was once labeled as "untouchable", Portis has garnered much interest from no less than ten teams around the NSL, each with playoff aspirations. But what will the final asking price be? The Mavericks stand pat that they are in no rush nor need to move Portis at this time, so they offer must be in the awe-inspiring realm, to be sure. Do these teams have the assets needed to pry away his talents? Will he be the key piece in the Dallas Mavericks rebuild or the the final piece for another team's championship aspirations? How long will we have to wait and see? Stay tuned!!!!
