NSL Insider - 16-30 Mock Vitt-ake v1by Nenjabin, updated on Sunday, June 23 2019, 02:46 am EST 16. Cleveland Cavaliers – Chuma Okeke – Cavaliers
could use another power forward. Okeke is a guy with good team defense and
three point shooting. He’s a guy whose torn ACL did not affect his draft
position at all. As a result, I can’t picture him falling any further in the
NSL draft.
17. Golden State – Cam Johnson – Think Mailo could use
another SF to play behind TJ Warren. And who better to play behind Warren than
his look-alike Cam Johnson. Cam Johnson is the best shooter in this class. And
like Warren, he doesn’t play defense either.
18. Miami Heat – Matisse Thybulle – I know Pete is a
guy that likes to compete and could use a guy like Thybulle. Thybulle is a 6’6
Andre Roberson type wing defender. He set historic numbers in steals this year
in the NCAA. He is a negative offensively. If he could just develop a shot, he
could be playable in the NBA.
19. Charlotte Hornets – Grant Williams – I think
Barncic needs a power forward. He takes Grant Williams. Grant is a 6’8 post
scorer with passing ability. He offers great team defense but lacks the speed
to take on guards. He’s not a very good shooter.
20. Oklahoma City Thunder – Tyler Herro – Wiz takes
best player available. Even though Cam is the better shooter, some are still
calling Herro the best shooting prospect in the draft due to his age. He has a
lightning quick release due to his tiny T-Rex arms. He has the lateral
quickness to guard smaller wings and bigger guards, but no one else.
21. Boston Celtics – Ty Jerome – With the departure of
Elfrid Payton, Toby could use another point guard. Jerome is a very gifted as a
passer. He’s a tough, smart defender with a good steal rate. He’s a good
shooter and can hit shots off movement. He just lacks athleticism.
22. Chicago Bulls – Nassir Little – Merencio likes
athleticism, and Nassir is the most athletic player available. He has the
power, strength, and overall finishing ability of a small ball big man, but the
build of a wing. He could end up being a wing version of Kenneth Faried.
Something interesting to note about Nassir was he got too strong too fast this
year that it affected his mobility. This could have played into his performance
at UNC. He was a top high school recruit who may have more potential than he
was able to demonstrate.
23. LA Lakers – Romeo Langford – Greenmig is no where
to be seen. I think he gets Romeo Langford due to auto-draft. Langford is a 6’6
athletic wing with good touch near the rim on runners and power layups. He has
the length and power at the point of attack defensively. Makes simple passes
and not much more, but throws them with accuracy and pace. He’s a truly gifted
scorer, but is still lacking in range.
24. Phoenix Suns – Keldon Johnson – Laddas knows what
Coach Calipari does to college prospects. Keldon could end up being a lot
better than what he showed in college. As of now, he appears as a “good at
everything” but “elite at nothing” type of prospect. He’s a good shooter with a
quick release. He has a strong floater game. He didn’t show much as a rebounder
or passer in college, but maybe we see that outside of a Calipari system.
25. Boston Celtics – Carsen Edwards – At this point,
someone has to take Nickeil Alexander-Walker. Not Toby. I have him taking
Carsen Edwards. Boston needs point guards. Carsen is a premier tough shot
maker. He’s very strong, he has a lot of burst, and he has a ridiculous
wingspan. But at 6’0, this is not enough for him to be a good finisher at the
rim. He still has a chance though defensively. He’s a really good shooter off
movement. This is a skill that a lot of people missed on Landry Shamet last
year.
26. Sacramento Kings – Nickeil Alexander-Walker – He’s
the cousin of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and he has similar measurements as his
cousin. His wingspan is only 2 inches shorter. He does everything offensively,
primarily as a shooter/slasher but showed some technique as a distributor. He
has the size and length to guard positions 1-3. I think Klem will love him for
his size and length.
27. Phoenix Suns – Kevin Porter Jr – I think Laddas
would love KPJ for how polarizing he is. He’s appeared many Ballislife videos.
He had showdowns in the Drew League. He has incredible mixtapes. He was a
5-star recruit coming out of high school. He probably should have been taken in
the lottery. He’s the third best overall athlete in the draft after Zion and
Clarke. He models his game after James Harden. He’s a power finisher extraordinaire.
If he gets the edge, he can finish over and through anyone.
28. New Orleans Pelicans – KZ Okpala – He’s 6’10, the
size of a center, but he’s a wing. He has multi-positional defensive
versatility with his size, length, and ability to cover ground fluidly at his
size. He was utilized at Stanford as a big playmaker with significant shot
creation responsibility operating out of the pick and roll or in iso
situations. Kind of reminds you of somebody, doesn’t it? I’ll also note that he shot 37% from three
this year.
29. Philadelphia 76ers – Jordan Poole – I think Ben
could use another SG. Poole has a natural feel for the game on offense. He is a
very smooth and proficient shooter off dribble. His mechanics are clean and easy.
He was a rapidly developing passer and decision maker this year, but may never
be good enough to escape combo guard status. Defense wise, he’s decent, but he will
need to show more. 30. Memphis Grizzlies – Nicholas Claxton – I think Rootsey has room to develop a long term prospect. So I have him selecting Nicholas Claxton. He’s 7’0, he’s long, and he’s switchable. He shows uncommon dexterity and fluidity for a 7-footer as a dribbler and driver. He’s pretty substantially the best perimeter defender amongst all big men in this class. He can move his feet laterally and stay with most wings and some guards fairly easily. He doesn’t have much in the way of real big man skills. He plays hard, but doesn’t have the frame to really operate as a screener/post player yet. If those develop, watch out. |
