NSL Insider - Premium: All-NSL Teamsby Dylan, updated on Tuesday, December 17 2024, 11:11 pm EST All NSL Teams It’s finally
that time of year that everyone looks forward to! Seeing if your favourite
player gets “snubbed” or gets the credit they deserve in the first iteration of
the All NSL Teams. Couple rules I have set for this write up are the same for
the end of season awards, they need to pass the same markers to be eligible. To
feature on these teams your player must have played 60% of your teams’ total
games to this point of the season. Couple teams
feature heavily which is a good indicator as to why they are where they are, at
the top of the standings. Minnesota has both of their star duo represented in
both the All NSL teams and the All-Defence teams, as do Washington. Both teams
sit among the top of their respective conferences. 2 new faces have also popped
their head up among the elites. New faces Jalen
Williams: I feel is
the 2nd best SG in the league right now, he may not remain in these
conversations though as the Clippers still have their 1st option
Paolo Banchero to come back into the side and take shots away but as of right
now J Dub has been a highly efficient force for the Clippers and keeping the
wins ticking over. Anthony
Edwards: Another new
face among the best of the best who we should expect to see feature in these
lists often as his career plays out. Ant has only featured in the All-Defence 2nd
team which he was awarded back in season 2022/2023. I have placed him in the 2nd
team, to this point of the year Ant is averaging 40ppg! We all saw the uptick
last season and 2k have really boosted his play as he has propelled his OKC
Thunder to the top seed in the West with a 14-4 record. Brandon
Ingram: The baby
slim reaper has finally arrived. Throughout his 2k career he’s been an
afterthought and never really played up to his NBA level. He was often an
inefficient shot chucker because he was too slow to get open and his shot
release was too slow. This has all changed this season as Ingram has looked the
best, he’s ever looked averaging a career-high 27.4 points per game he’s faster
and seems to hit everything no matter the contest. Karl-Anthony
Towns: Another
player who has often been an afterthought in 2k and had often been referred to
as a waste of cap space, I’m not sure how he didn’t at least get a 3rd
team vote last season where he averaged 24ppg and 12rpg. This season he isn’t
quite as impactful while playing on a loaded Charlotte roster, but I believe
he’s firmly planted to this point of the season as the 3rd best
Center in the NSL. Jalen
Suggs: Was traded to
the Chicago Bulls at the pointy end of last season and was immediately an
impactful defensive presence. This season he’s gone to another level where I
believe he is currently the #2 defensive SG in the NSL averaging a career high
1.7spg and has been locking everyone up as well as putting up a career game
high of 7 steals just last week. Jonathan
Isaac: Another
player I thought would have featured in an All-Defensive team last, his numbers
last season were nuts and he was award eligible for the first time in his NSL
career he played 60 games. Isaac would likely be a lock to be on an All-defence
team if he was more available. Having only played 114 games out of a possible
427.
Familiar faces return James
Harden: A player who
hasn’t been included in an All NSL team since being selected in the 2nd
team back in the 2020/2021 season is James Harden. Harden has found the
fountain of youth and is back to averaging similar numbers to when he was in
his prime while leading the Utah Jazz who have been without their star player
for all but 1 week to a 12-4 record. Andre
Drummond: Drummond
is usually in line for an All NSL selection every year however this season has
seen a resurgence defensively having made an All-Defence 2nd team
back in 2022/2023.
