NSL Insider - Premium: NSL JAM duosby jmac, updated on Thursday, March 21 2024, 04:57 pm EST NSL JAM! Best Duos in the NSL The video game that started it all for basketball, NBA JAM, is widely and nostalgically celebrated and played to this very day. If we didn’t sim our league games using NBA2K24, and used NBA JAM… I wonder what the standings would look like? Here are the best NBA JAM duos for each of the thirty NSL teams: Atlanta Hawks: Desmond Bane & Coby White Just like in the NSL, the Hawks would struggle to beat their opponents. If both guards get hot, they could shoot their way to a win. Otherwise, they’re getting bullied. Boston Celtics: Jayson Tatum & Alperen Sengun Boston has a great big/small tandem here that would be very dynamic on offense. The two-man game would make the Celtics one of the best scoring teams. Brooklyn Nets: Jamal Murray & Brandon Ingram The Nets decided to go smaller, leaving Lauri out of the lineup, hoping to kill their opponents with skill and speed. Ingram provides some size, but it’s all about scoring and dynamism, here. Charlotte Hornets: Ja Morant & Demar Derozan Ja, in all of that space, is going to be devastating. Much like the Nets, the Hornets lean into their strength of multi-tiered, elite scoring and leave defense and rebounding at the door. Chicago Bulls: Lonzo Ball & Nic Claxton The Bulls will live in the pick & roll game, with plenty of Lonzo drives and lobs and hopefully some Claxton finishes. Both guys can defend, but the overall ceiling is low compared to some other teams. Cleveland Cavaliers: Kristaps Porzingis & Scottie Barnes Don’t sleep on this duo – two-way versatility, size, playmaking, this could be a really fun JAM team. Point guard Scottie and pick and pop Zinger. Dallas Mavericks: Miles Bridges & Rui Hachimura Much like the regular Mavericks team, they have heart, and physical tools, but lack great/elite upside and it is shown in this duo. Two big/strong wings that can get their buckets. Denver Nuggets: Stephen Curry & Domantas Sabonis I can just imaging the commentators re: Steph – ‘HEEEEE’S ON FIIIIIIRE’. With all that space, an guaranteed mismatches, Curry would be a demon in this format. Detroit Pistons: Anfernee Simons & Brandon Miller Continuing the theme of correlation between the battling teams in NSL battling in the JAM version, Simons and Miller are going to have a pretty rough time of it. Miller looks like a player, though. Golden State Warriors: Malik Monk & Nikola Vucevic Pray for the Warriors. At least they have All-Star Nikola Vucevic. Malik Monk will definitely have a JAM game where he looks like an All-Star. Houston Rockets: Nikola Jokic & Tyrese Haliburton This would arguably be the best offensive guard/big tandem. The best player in the world in Jokic and everybody’s favourite up and coming guard in Haliburton. Would Vitt go for it? Indiana Pacers: Victor Wembanyama & Pascal Siakam Is it a stretch (lol, sorry) to say that Wemby, as a rookie, even in 2k, would be the most dangerous player to play against in the entire NSL JAM format? While I think that is hyperbolic, he would definitely be a top 5 ‘you don’t want none of this’ guy. Los Angeles Clippers: Paolo Banchero & Ben Mathurin Paolo is showing signs, but he’s not a guy yet. Mathurin continues to have moments, but not consistency. They’d have some fun offensive runs in the game, for sure. Los Angeles Lakers: Kevin Durant & Donovan Mitchell One of the best duos from one of the best teams. Durant would be on the top 5 guys picked in this format, and Donovan Mitchell just might be the best guard in 2k24 aside from SGA. Memphis Grizzlies: Jaylen Brown & Bam Adebayo Can this duo find more sizzle than the Grizzle have of late? Balanced without being brilliant, these two would stay in every single game, and win enough of their own. Both can pop off for big scoring nights, both play defense. Miami Heat: C.J. McCollum & Jalen Duren Not an overly sexy duo but the combination is complementary. Duren might get 100 rebounds a game in this format, and C.J. might shoot 100 times. Milwaukee Bucks: SGA & Paul George The toast of the NSL, the Bucks trot out their two All-Stars, with a great shot at winning it all. Not glitchy in terms of size, but both players are built as superstars and superstars win titles. Minnesota Timberwolves: Anthony Davis & Jimmy Butler What a fearsome duo, the best defensive duo in the game and both superstars, to boot. A genuine chance to win this tournament because they have the best chance of stopping their opponents whilst also being able to score. New Orleans Pelicans: Luka Doncic & Rudy Gobert The Pelicans are flying, and it’s not because they are birds; they really have found the juice and are charging into the playoffs. Luka would be an absolute demon in 2 vs 2 and Rudy would be happy to do the dirty work. New York Knicks: Kawhi Leonard & Damian Lillard Two of the most respected stars in our league, these two would mix elite shooting, elite defense and efficient offense to form one of the most potent tandems. Oklahoma City Thunder: Anthony Edwards & Onyeka Okongwu Is there any brighter rising star than the Ant-man? I don’t think so. This physical, young duo would play like dogs and want to out-muscle their opponents off the court. Orlando Magic: Zion Williamson & Jarrett Allen Zion in a 2 on 2 competition would be must see TV. He has improved his stock this season and this pair would be tougher than you think to play against. Philadelphia 76ers: De’Aaron Fox & Precious Achuiwa The blue-collar 76ers keep riding the Fox bandwagon, here. Precious could be any number of supportive pieces to work with and off of Fox. Phoenix Suns: Karl-Anthony Towns & D’Angelo Russell No team has been friskier than the Suns of the previous month or so, and Towns and Russell have been on fire at the offensive end. They will be a sieve on defense. Portland Trailblazers: Derrick White & Isaiah Hartenstein Battling Golden State for the worst duo. Good luck, Portland. Sacramento Kings: Kyle Kuzma & Terry Rozier Aside from the prayers, this is a fun duo who will get up plenty of shots but wouldn’t be able to stop anyone. Kuzma will be chuffed he was a part of it all though, kudos for the attitude. San Antonio Spurs: Giannis & Bol Bol Just really tall and could win the whole thing. Not gonna hit any jump shots but arguably would be impossible to matchup with. Giannis with single defensive coverage, nasty. Toronto Raptors: Julius Randle & Chet Holmgren Name alone, the sex appeal isn’t right there, but these two guys would likely surprise there way to the last remaining teams in the tournament. So big and strong, they will be a matchup headache. Utah Jazz: Joel Embiid & James Harden Could this be the most talented tandem? The two man game would be as good as it gets, and both players are big and strong at their positions. Both can shoot, both can pass. Could win it all. Washington Wizards: Lebron James & Devin Booker ‘Best tandem!? Hold my beer.’ While they lack a true big man, Lebron can function as a C on defense (aside from shot blocking) and THIS team would have to be the best offensive duo in the league. Don’t forget the crazy high intangibles and IQ. Question: Who makes the NSL JAM final four? Who wins the title? |
