I see in your
future.
What fate lies in store for our NSL teams, according to the Tarot Cards? We
contacted a psychic to conduct a reading across the league and its 30 teams.
Info: Cards have significantly
different meanings if they come up the right way or come up reversed (which
tends to be opposite, negative outcomes).
Note: Tarots are provocative by their nature. Provoke, away!

The Magician Tarot card
meaning in upright position:

Creativity

Channeling energy from above

Transmutation
The Magician reversed:

Trickery

Misdirected energy

Backfiring
Teams that drew this
card:
New York Knicks (channelling
energy from above)
Milwaukee Bucks
(transmutation)
Teams that drew this card (reversed):
Dallas Mavericks (backfiring, misdirected energy)
What does it mean?
The Knicks have ridden their unmatched draft luck into one of the most
fearsome builds in all the league. If there is a NSL deity out there, Knicks
are one of the favourite children.
The Bucks have turned a loser franchise into an instant-winner, and the
future is as bright as can be. Coal to a diamond.
The Mavericks have fumbled the keys for the last period of time. Do they pick
them up in time to avoid the cliff?

The Emperor Tarot card
meaning in upright position:

Power

Authority

Masculine energy
The Emperor reversed:

Lack of power and authority

Lack of courage

Overwhelmed
Teams that drew this
card:
Portland Trailblazers
(authority, power)
San Antonio Spurs
(authority, power)
Detroit Pistons (power)
Teams that drew this card (reversed):
Boston Celtics (lack of courage)
Cleveland Cavaliers
(overwhelmed)
What does it mean?
Some of the Royalty of
the NSL, the Trailblazers, Spurs and Pistons, continue to put up titles,
conference finals and big win totals and next season looks no different, with
GM and roster wanting to contend for the title.
An ambiguous energy surrounds the Boston team, and signs point to more on
court disappointment despite in-house satisfaction.
Cleveland have done all the right things, but their new front office in a
loaded Eastern Conference, the hill is steep and treacherous.

The Chariot Tarot card
meaning in upright position:

Willpower

Direction

Moving forward
The Chariot reversed:

Stagnation

Lack of direction

Lack of willpower
Teams that drew this
card:
Atlanta Hawks (direction)
Minnesota Timberwolves
(moving forward)
Orlando Magic
(direction)
Teams that drew this card (reversed):
Brooklyn Nets (stagnation)
What does it mean?
The Hawks have flipped
the competitive switch and committed to a positive sense of direction.
The Wolves, coming off a
GMOTY, 66 win season, continue to move forward towards true title contention.
Orlando has steadily improved each season and has clear direction, with a
stable, valuable roster of players. Another year of maturation should see
them win a playoff series.
I am hopeful for the
Nets, who are finally at full health. However, are small changes enough for
this franchise to be revived?

The Wheel of Fortune Tarot
card meaning in upright position:

Changes ahead

Good luck

Advancing in life
The Wheel of Fortune
reversed:

Delays

Out of your control

Resisting changes
Teams that drew this
card:
Chicago Bulls (good luck)
Denver Nuggets (good
luck)
Teams that drew this card (reversed):
Indiana Pacers (delays)
What does it mean?
Chicago and Denver just
need some good luck to see both franchises push to genuine title contention.
Talented rosters and experienced, motivated front offices are hoping.
The Pacers are one of the most dumbfounding teams in the NSL; on paper, they
are a playoff team and when they are on the court, they tend to get played
off. Why is success yet to arrive?

Death Tarot card meaning in
upright position:

The end of something

Time to let go

Transformation
Death reversed:

Resisting to let go

Lack of acceptance

Loss
Teams that drew this
card:
New Orleans Pelicans
(transformation)
Toronto Raptors (the end
of something)
Teams that drew this card (reversed):
Los Angeles Clippers (lack of acceptance)
Miami Heat (loss)
What does it mean?
The Pelicans broke up
their organic, young star backcourt and brought in Paul George, signalling a
change in strategy and sense of urgency to contend.
Torontos new GM, Dylan, has washed his hands of his old team and has already
improved this talented and primed Raptors team.
The Clippers moved off of Giannis because they couldnt accept the reality of
going all in and contending. They now lie in a bed of no expectations.
Miami have had a horrid run over the past two seasons, suffering loss of
spirit, ability and value. Can they recover, or were the hits too great?

Ace of Swords Tarot card
meaning in upright position:

Illumination

Triumph of reason

Clever, reasonable idea
Ace of Swords
reversed:

Irrational, unreasonable idea

Fanaticism

Losing your mind
Teams that drew this
card:
Los Angeles Lakers
(illumination)
Philadelphia 76ers
(clever, reasonable idea)
Teams that drew this card (reversed):
Sacramento Kings (losing
your mind)
Golden State Warriors
(fanaticism)
What does it mean?
The Lakers are finally
awake, sort of, and appear to have grown as an organisation and developed a
competitive spirit.
Philadelphia has been neither coming nor going for their entire NSL
existence. For once, their team looks good, makes sense, and some clever
moves have the arrow pointing up.
On a good day, the Sacramento Kings ride the knifes edge of
elation/devastation like a theme park rollercoaster. Russ has been given the
keys Klemm might just snap this time.
Golden State continue to love their guys and retain their core players, which
is great news. With a GM openly loving particular players, is he evaluating
properly?

Strength Tarot card meaning
in upright position:

Strength

Confidence

Stamina
Strength reversed:

Doubt

confidence)
Memphis Grizzlies
(strength, confidence)
Washington Wizards
(stamina, confidence)
Teams that drew this card (reversed):
Phoenix Suns (need of help)
Utah Jazz (weakness)
What does it mean?
Hornets, Grizzlies and
Wizards are some of the best-run franchises in the NSL, sustaining winning
basketball and playoff runs. Its more of the same for these teams, with this
card signalling the positive journeys ahead for these teams.
The Suns are moving in the right direction, but their team (and their fans)
need a lot of help. Any French prospects that can play?
Utah Jazz are going to be a terrible team and that delights the Utah Jazz.

What does it mean?
The Houston Zen
Rockets continue down their path of peaceful aspiration, enjoying the fruits

is at a loss with their prized no.2 pick out for the season.
