NSL Insider - Mock Draft: 2nd Roundby Shams, updated on Friday, July 08 2022, 04:45 am EST The 1st
round will be being completed by Ben Anderson shortly! This was Shams take ion
the 2nd round. 31.
Jaden Hardy- Hardy was a top player in
the 2021 class and was a projected top 5 pick this time last year. Hardy was
projected to go in the 1st round in a lot of mock drafts. 32.
EJ Liddell- Liddell was also a
projected 1st round pick, but fell on draft night. He has shown he
can be focal point of an offense but the question is can he be a role player,
and does he have the size to play the NBA level? 33.
Andrew Nembhard- Nembhard is going to
be playing with the Pacers which most definitely helps his situation, and he
was focal point of one of the best college teams in the nation. Hes a bigger
guard which helps his stock and ready to contribute right now as one of the
older guys in the draft. 34.
Kennedy Chandler- Chandler just signed
the biggest 2nd round contract by an American player and the thing
with Chandler that holds him back is his height at 60, but hes such a good
player. He averaged 13.9 points and 4.7 assists last year and he was just a
true freshman. 35.
Jaylin Williams- Williams did very well
at Arkansas in his sophomore year and made the All-SEC first team. He makes
great plays and isnt the most flashy but he gets the job done. He could step
into being a floor spacing big down the line and should get some minutes being
in OKC. 36.
Caleb Houstan- Houstan like Hardy was
ranked highly in the high school rankings, he will be a great floor spacer, as
hes shown he can knock down the 3 at a good percentage and was not afraid to
do so. Houstan has good size and has room to fill into his body. 37.
Christian Koloko- Koloko is 71 which
in and of itself is great for 2k. He is one of the older guys in the draft
being 22 years old and showed he is a very good shot blocker averaging 2.8 last
season. Being drafted to the Raptors is a good sign too. 38.
Ismael Kamagate- Kamagate will be
someone who can possibly produce early on in the NSL with his height and
athleticism, but he will likely be a draft and stash. He has the skills people
love, but must be willing to wait. 39.
Bryce McGowens- McGowens played well as
a freshman for Nebraska this last season, but a real issue is his 3 point
shooting as he shot just 27.4% last year from 3. Hes still very young and
didnt have much help on Nebraska. 40.
Gabriele Procida- Procida is another
draft and stash guy, he has great size for the SG position at 67 and is a
great 3 point shooter. He doesnt always show it but he has good athleticism. 41.
Max Christie- Christie is still very
young and his potential is very high. He showed at Michigan State he can score
from many different places on the floor. He still has to fill into his body,
but is 66. 42.
Moussa Diabate- Diabate was a projected
1st round pick and is likely going to be a good NSL player with his
size of 610 at the 4 spot and good athleticism. He is not very strong right
now and can foul quite a bit. He is still a project player. 43.
Trevor Keels- Keels shows great defense
and is still very young being only 18 at the draft and is a decent passer. His
shooting needs some work as he shot 31.2% from 3 last year. He also has a very
tough time creating shots for himself, which you need at the NBA level to
separate yourself from the rest. 44.
Scotty Pippen Jr- The first UDFA in the
draft. Pippen has looked very good in Summer League and even looked good in
college. He is small at 61 but scored 20.4 ppg and dished out 4.5 apg last
year at Vandy. Its hard not to love a guy that puts up those numbers. 45.
Josh Minott- Minott has shown lots of
potential and didnt get to fully show his talent as he was playing behind
Landers Nolley who had more experience. Minott is very athletic and showed a
38.5 inch vertical as a 68 player with a 611 wingspan. 46.
Yannick Nzosa- Nzosa is very talented,
but just needs to polish up his game, he has the tools to do well, but is a
draft and stash guy allowing him the time to improve. 47.
Keon Ellis- Ellis has done well in the
Summer League showing great defense as well as offensively, where he scored 17
points. Ellis also has great size for a guard at 66, with his age being 22 it
mayve been what dropped him to being a UDFA. 48.
Johnny Juzang- Juzang was a projected 1st
round pick in last draft, but he decided to stay another year at UCLA. He
didnt show anything new, got another year older, and lost the March Madness
hype which is likely why he fell. He is still very talented so it makes sense
to why he would be picked up. 49.
Khalifa Diop- Diop is another draft and
stash guy, hes pretty big at 611 and 240 and plays very well in the post.
Hes a good rebounder and is a versatile defender, but hes still got a bit to
develop. 50.
Vince Williams Jr.- Williams was a
great 3 point shooter at VCU shooting 38.7%. He had struggles of turnovers and
fouls a lot. Williams brings good defense which the Grizzlies love, his
wingspan and build make him a good prospect for the NBA. 51.
Gui Santos- Santos in his first Summer
League game had 23 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals, which is enough to raise
his stock from pick 55 up a little. Santos may be a draft and stash which some
people want but also may not. He is still only 20 years old too and could
possibly play in the NBA with his Summer League success. 52.
JD Davison- Davison was a player that
was the top of the 2021 class and has since fallen. Davison had a good year
averaging 8.5 ppg, 4.8 rpg, and 4.3 apg, but like many of the other players he
struggled from 3 which in todays game its hard to not take that into account. 53.
Ryan Rollins- Rollins really played
well for Toledo with 18.9 ppg, 6 rpg, and 3.6 apg. His 3 point percentage was
rough at 31.1%, and he is also a little short for the 2 spot at 63. Rollins
playing at a small school hurt his stock, but you never know if guys truly
translate to the next level or not unless you try. 54.
Kendall Brown- Brown is very athletic
and uses that to be versatile on the defensive end. He works a lot within the
arc on offense and needs to improve shooting, but he also doesnt shoot much
from outside. 55.
Alondes Williams- Williams looked
amazing at Wake Forest for his final year of eligibility getting 18.5 ppg, 6.4
rpg, 5.2 apg, and 1.2 spg. Williams won the ACC Player of the Year too, which
no matter how old someone is winning that is hard to do. Especially with the
ACC being the most prestigious basketball conference. 56.
Isaiah Mobley- Mobley is a decent
player and could be a decent role player, and kind of lives in the shadow of
his brother. He is very talented offensively, where he was a scorer and
playmaker at USC, but playing the 4 could lead to problems as he has problems
with strength. 57.
Tyrese Martin- Martin is one of the
older guys this draft, but is very talented he has the skills to be good
defensively and improved from 3 point range this last season, but before that
didnt show the ability to. Could be a possible guy to help out right now for
some team. 58.
Kenneth Lofton Jr- Lofton is very
talented, hes different though. Hes 66 and 280, it will be interesting to
see how he translates to 2k, but he dominated in USA basketball a few years ago
where some of the top prospects were. 59.
Hugo Besson- Besson has done well on
the offensive side with the New Zealand Breakers and is only 20 years old. Its
unknown whether hell be a draft or stash or come over to the league right
away, but hes a project prospect. 60.
Jabari Walker- Walker has shown he could
be a possible 3nD guy playing for Colorado and has really played well, but his
athletic limitations led to him falling down a lot in the draft. Not everything
in basketball is about athleticism, if he can play, he can play. |
