Introducing Ty Jerome

Introducing Ty Jerome

This week we look at one of the four rookies on the Wizards roster but only one of two they were selected in the first round in he draft, Ty Jerome.

Jerome was selected 27th in the 2019 draft by the Utah Jazz after 3 years playing for Virginia and a National College championship in his final year of college.

After being bought across in a trade to the Wizards only a few weeks into the season  he has come on strong in very limited minutes with 4.1 points, .9 assists and .7 rebounds in 8.7 minutes a game. Now this all sounds pretty average but when once you look into the efficiency of his game, you can start to see why the Wizards targeted him. Jeromes percentages of 51/48/77 are excellent from the field and the 3 point line with it being just good from the free throw line.

Jerome was bought in to be the future back up point/shooting guard with his exceptional size for a lead ball handler a big plus in the eyes of the GM. After the 3 years in college Jerome comes in with poise and professionalism you dont often see in rookies which is much needed on this young Wizards squad led by Devin Booker and the injured Jusurf Nurkic.

We asked Jerome what his initial thoughts on becoming a Wizards and he responded with “Im excited to be here with such a young and promising core group of guys that only seem to care about winning and having fun while doing. I’ve never had the opportunity to visit Washington before and from what I’ve seen it seems like a place I could spend my whole career. Ive always been a winner, Ive won at every level I’ve ever played basketball and at the Wizards i expect that to continue. On any given night our best is good enough to match up against anybody and thats with us missing big Nurk so I’m looking forward to what the future holds for us.”

Well you’ve heard from the horses mouth, Washington are a team to watch.
