Devin Booker. The Wizards first pick in the inaugural draft and only mainstay it what has been a constantly changing roster as the GM chases the franchises elusive first title. The sharp shooting all-around scorer seemingly adds something to his game every often which makes him one of the more well rounded score first players in the NSL or NBA.
One of, if not the best second banana in the league it has allowed Booker to focus on just scoring and defending and being the second Wizard to feature in the top 10 players in the league for a period of time before an unlucky run with in game injuries leading him to drop out.
Devin is putting up his strong stats of 24 points, 3 assists and 3 rebounds on 48/34/89 again being deflated due to 5 separate in-game injuries. LeBron James is leading the team in an amazing all round statistical season, Jrue Holiday leading the defense from the front and Capela is controlling the boards on both ends has allowed Booker the luxury of not having to explode every night for the Wizards to win. The less attention has been enjoyable for Book and leads to the most well rounded team he has been on.
The Wizards have had a good run of availability leading to their league leading and franchise best start of a 20-1 record. As players inevitably miss games, expect Booker to raise his game and scoring to even higher levels as he has done in past seasons to be able to keep the Wizards afloat as the older players on the roster rest down the stretch.
The GM has nothing but positive things to say with how Booker carries himself on and off the court and couldn’t ask for a better team leader. The Wizards will only go as far as the stars take them and Devin Booker is the X factor they will try take them to the promise land, He may not be the status all leader on the team but the team will only go as far as Book will take them.
Let’s hope he can live up to the song and stay “Wet’.
