In Russ We Trust
Free agency has come and gone for another year, a day that’s always filled with hope, chaos, and a bit of stress for most teams. Heading into the day, the goal was simple: add at least two players to reach a legal roster, and ideally three to fill it out completely. While we fell just short of the ultimate goal of reaching 15 players, we still managed to tick off the most important box, building a legal roster.
That might not sound like a huge win to some, but given that in last years free agency we couldn't make it to a legal roster, it’s progress. Not perfect, but definitely a step forward from where we were this time last year.
The Prize: Russell Westbrook
We were fortunate enough to have secured enough GMs for a 99 max bid as well as a few more to splash around. Right up until the buzzer we were unsure on who our 99 max bid would go on, insert RUSSELL WESTBROOK.
Russ was labelled by many as the headline act of this year’s Free Agency — some even suggesting he might break the record for GM points spent on a single player. While that didn’t quite happen, Milwaukee still came out a big winner by bringing him on board to lead the second unit.
Russ adds genuine 2K star power and a wealth of championship experience to this roster. He’s a proven performer, a former NSL Sixth Man of the Year, and the kind of veteran presence who can swing momentum in a game instantly. The hope is that he can tap back into that spark that once made him one of the league’s most electric players. With Russ commanding the bench unit, the Bucks get a jolt of energy, leadership, and toughness, all the ingredients you want from a player of Russ's calibre.
