FA Day Recruits

Trades will be finalised on Sunday morning, signing off on all dotted lines. Who are Portland welcoming? Andrew Nembhard
A poised and intelligent pass-first type, Nembhard excels at running an offense with care. He’s known for his elite decision-making, strong passing vision, and ability to control tempo. Defensively, his size and discipline allow him to guard multiple backcourt positions effectively. While not a high-volume scorer, his efficiency and composure make him a steady option when the team needs a boost. His 24-25 NBA Playoffs and Finals play boosted his profile and showed the big impact he can have on winning. He has just signed a 3-year deal, for approximately $19M a season for three.

Brandon Clarke
BC brings tremendous energy and efficiency as a frontcourt player, finishing everything at the rim and having a nifty floater from the paint. He thrives as a lob target, and contributes with exceptional timing as a shot blocker and passing-lane threat. Despite lacking the height of a true big, his agility and IQ allows for defensive versatility, with him able to guard multiple positions. Clarke’s motor makes him one of the most impactful role players on both ends and highly sought after. Clarke’s only downside is that he is yet to string a totally healthy season together.

Obi Toppin
I gotta be honest… It was a YouTube mixtape of Toppin’s best dunks that got me over the line in accepting the trade - it was just so fun to watch a high-flyer. Obi’s game is defined by athleticism in transition, as he is quick and fast across the ground and a skywalker in the air. He works hard to get into good positions for threes, cuts and lobs and the crowd gasps when he elevates for dunks. His three-point shot continues to develop and this makes him even more dangerous in pick-and-roll situations, if teams stay home on him. Cheap deal, $15M per season for three.

Dwight Powell
I mostly know Dwight Powell from the clips of him hitting his head. I know in his prime, he was a reliable big with efficient finishing, reasonable rebounding and verticality. Powell thrives as a rim-running big who sets strong screens, scores in the paint and plays within his role. He provides reasonable defense in 2k due to his athleticism (strength and agility). Bargain-bin price at $4M, expiring.

Dean Wade
Don’t get it twisted - it’s not the D-Wade we would prefer to have. But, Dean Wade is a stretch forward known for his floor spacing and defensive versatility. Thankfully, 2k caught onto his handy role-player contributions, and his athleticism and defense boost, as well as reliable three-point shooting, means he can play useful minutes at the 3 or 4. Moves well without the ball, and can switch defensively onto guards and wings and keep up, and use his height as a deterrent. $6.6M deal, expiring. The Trailblazers will also receive future picks and pick swap rights in the subsequent deals that bring these players in.
