The Trade
Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: Jimmy Butler, Jae Crowder
Cleveland Cavaliers Receive: Jrue Holiday, Kyle Kuzma, OKC 23 first, PHI 27 first
Gm Shams of the Cavaliers approached us in the last hours of the trade deadline period looking to build a deal around Jrue Holiday and Jimmy Butler, there were other young pieces involved that GM Ethan was unwilling to move and made a counter that was eventually accepted. In total the talks probably lasted 90 minutes and for a trade of this magnitude the negotiations were very smooth sailing and easy going.
The Remainder of the 22-23 Season
We know we don't have the 2k juice or players required to make a deep post season run this season, especially while we are missing LaMelo Ball. We have two goals for the remainder of the season. Goal #1 is too accumulate as many wins as possible to try and entice free agents to sign with us this offseason. Goal #2 is to put up a good fight in the post season and hopefully make it out of the first round.
Moving Forward With High Expectations
This move will see us remain very competitive this season while also gearing up for next year when LaMelo Ball is expected to return. Jimmy Butler is a 2k 2-way superstar in every which way, add to that LaMelo Ball, Scottie Barnes, Jonas Valciunas, Victor Oladipo, Al Horford, Jae Crowder, Malik Beasley and more, the Timberwolves looked primed to make a significant run next season.
Wolves fans have plenty to be excited about in the coming months/years. When asked for a quote about this season and moving forward GM Ethan says " I will not rest until we have a championship banner in the rafters of the Target Center"
