The Minnesota Timberwolves have been busy on the trade front in the past couple of weeks, lets quickly recap what has come in and gone out via trades.
In: Al Horford, Victor Oladipo, Trey Lyles, OKC 23 first, PHI 27 first
Out: Rudy Gobert, Haywood Highsmith, Taj Gibson
As stated previously the motivation behind moving Gobert was to gain the financial flexibility that Al Horford's contract provides, as well as gaining some future assets. That being said the Timberwolves organisation still had their eyes on the post season.

The Goal for 22-23 Season
We are all but locked in to the 4-5 match up in the western conference, unless we go on a massive slide or jump the Grizzlies which seems unlikely. With a 4-5 matchup all but locked in, we were looking forward to competing in the post season, despite the misconception of some GMs around the league, we were not tanking. Information gathered from team practices actually said quite the opposite, we were still very competitive just in a different way with Val manning the 5 spot solely, as well as being deeper on the bench with Derrick White, Victor Oladipo, Trey Lyles, Jeff Green and more running the bench mob.
Lamelo Ball
LaMelo Ball has suffered a season ending right ankle fracture which has flipped the whole season on it's head for the Timberwolves. Within the space of a week we have gone from what some considered a "contender" to most likely a first round out in the post season, largely due to the absence of LaMelo Ball and waiving of Tony Bradley. LaMelo had really found his footing in this NBA season prior to the injury posting insane averages of 25.4ppg, 8.2rpg and 10.2apg. We are hopeful LaMelo gets some 2k love next season so he can play more like his nba counterpart.

The Wolves are at a crossroads with the 22-23 season at the moment and could go two directions, move LaMelo for another young star and try get back to some form of contention for this year, or the more likely option, sell off any veteran pieces to contenders who are looking to make a push this post season. Either way there are plenty of talks to come through Minnesota leading into the trade deadline.
