ROOKIE OF THE WEEK WATCH - Week 9
PLAYER | TEAM | WHY | STATS | |
---|---|---|---|---|
![]() | PER 12.25 | ![]() Eastern 1-3 | Sarr has been kind of lackluster in my opinion this year. He's the highest rated rookie, and I feel like he has the opportunity in Atlanta to really do well. He's starting, but not averaging nearly enough boards and not even double digit points. Bulldog just needs to try and get him more shots with his efficiency not being the problem. | 8.5 PTS 6.0 REB 2.0 AST 0.0 STL 0.8 BLK |
![]() | PER 10.98 | ![]() Eastern 1-3 | Filipowski gets the ability to play a lot more than many other rookies this year being on a rebuilding team and a team with few bigs. He played as many minutes as possible this week, and had decent production. Could definitely win the award, but will be dependent on the other nominees. | 7.0 PTS 8.0 REB 3.5 AST 0.8 STL 1.3 BLK |
![]() | PER 11.04 | ![]() Eastern 2-3 | Dunn has been thrust into a role of starting this week, and his stats aren't the greatest, but what he does have is the defense. He's one of if not the best defender in this past class, and he averaged 1.8 bpg and 0.8 spg this past week which is decent. | 6.0 PTS 4.4 REB 2.2 AST 0.8 STL 1.8 BLK |
![]() | PER 11.26 | ![]() Eastern 2-2 | Wells performed well in a few minutes off the bench this past week. Putting up 6.8 ppg and shooting efficiently which we don't always see the young guys do. He's been a pleasant surprise this year being drafted in the 2nd round, but he's already helping out with a competitive team here and in the NBA. | 6.8 PTS 3.3 REB 2.0 AST 0.3 STL 0.0 BLK |
![]() | PER 29.33 | ![]() Eastern 3-1 | He has really showed out when given the minutes, but with the center rotation being good in Cleveland it's been hard for him to find minutes. He showed some good production off the bench this week with 8 rpg and 7 ppg in only 16 mpg. May be hard to win though with others having better stats due to playing more minutes. | 7.0 PTS 8.0 REB 1.5 AST 0.8 STL 1.5 BLK |
![]() | PER 26.87 | ![]() Western 1-3 | Bub did great being one of if not the only rookie to average double digit ppg this week. Did it off the bench too, not the greatest of efficiencies, but really only needs to get better from 3. Could be interesting to see if people vote him over Edey when he makes the defensive impact Bub didn't. | 13.5 PTS 1.5 REB 2.5 AST 0.0 STL 0.3 BLK |
![]() | PER 14.35 | ![]() Western 1-3 | Holland had a decent week, needs to improve shooting from 3. Every other part of his game is good though, we'll see how he keeps developing as his motor is his strong suit. Maybe he'll continue getting minutes for the Clippers too, but they have a ton of depth though. | 7.8 PTS 4.8 REB 2.5 AST 1.0 STL 0.5 BLK |
![]() | PER 14.81 | ![]() Western 2-2 | The thing that stands out with Edey this week and all season is his stats on spg and bpg, averaging over 1 of each. That's very valuable with a center and he grabbed a lot of boards this week averaging 10 per game. He's most likely the favorite for the award this week. | 8.5 PTS 10.0 REB 1.3 AST 1.5 STL 1.3 BLK |
![]() | PER 19.23 | ![]() Western 2-2 | Simpson put in some solid minutes off the bench scoring 7.3 ppg and dishing out 4 apg. Not too shabby considering he's just a two way guy, when you can get some production from a two way it's always a good thing. | 7.3 PTS 1.5 REB 4.0 AST 0.5 STL 0.3 BLK |
![]() | PER 15.28 | ![]() Western 4-0 | Wallace has shown he's a useful player in the NBA and was most likely played out of necessity this past week for the Jazz, needs to show more efficiency. Decent week for a two way guy none the less. | 4.5 PTS 2.0 REB 3.5 AST 0.5 STL 0.3 BLK |
