ROOKIE OF THE WEEK WATCH - Week 8

PLAYERTEAMWHYSTATS

Alex Sarr

PER 12.51

Eastern
0-4
Sarr found his way back into the Hawks starting lineup for the first time in a couple weeks as the team looked to take a couple losing weeks before putting their best players back in. Sarr put up a respectable week for the Hawks going at 60% from the floor

Kyle Filipowski

PER 10.50

Eastern
1-3
Filipowski is the only big man in New York right now with the only other eligible player being a forward with C eligibility. This has given him plenty of opportunity to show the Knicks what he can do, 11 rebounds per game is up there with some of the top bigs in the league

Cam Christie

PER 14.42

Eastern
1-3
Another Philly rookie that's doing rather well so far. We're used to seeing rookie bigs file through these awards every year from the Sixers. He's done well on guards and forwards this season. Christie put up a great week in limited minutes shooting 47/38/83

Pelle Larsson

PER 14.90

Eastern
4-1
Pelle Larson is being forced to play big minutes for a really shallow Charlotte roster and he came up big for them with 60/47 but 29% from the charity stripe. Most impressive was his +6 BPM off the bench

Yves Missi

PER 15.08

Eastern
4-0
Yves Missi has been inserted as the starting big man for Cleveland since the injury to Drummond and he's thrived in the role. Pulling in a huge 14 rebounds per game and 2.5 stocks. He has a bright future in this league if he can find minutes behind Clevelands deep C rotation

AJ Johnson

PER 28.83

Western
0-4
Buried on a Bucks roster that isn't looking to give minutes to a rookie we've seen some surprising numbers from AJ out the gate, putting up 6th man level production this week going at nearly 50% from the field

Liam Robbins

PER 9.89

Western
0-4
Still don't understand how this player does what he does, I looked into his G league numbers and his college numbers and he's never really been a shooter. Having seen his name pop up in live chat a couple times asking who the heck is Robbins and why is he burying 3s on me. 40% from deep is a great clip from a rookie big man.

Stephon Castle

PER 22.21

Western
1-4
Castle another one I've looked at and unsure how he scores so well given his 2k rating for shooting is in the 60s. He's been a huge part of Memphis's improved play shooting 57% from the floor and putting up genuine 6th man numbers.

15.4 PTS

Dalton Knecht

PER 14.33

Western
2-2
One of the oldest rookies on the circuit about to turn 30 Dalton Knecht has been instrumental in Dallas's success so far and for it found himself on the bench but that didn't stop him as his efficiency just got better shooting 56/55/71 for the week.

7.8 PTS

KJ Simpson

PER 24.51

Western
3-1
The West seems to be stacked with good rookies this year, which perhaps is an indicator as to how the conference strength has completely flipped. KJ put up yet again 6th man level production in only 13 minutes per game with splits of 44/43/75

10.5 PTS
