MOST IMPROVED WATCH - Week 8

PLAYERTEAMWHYSTATS

Derrick White

PER 28.24

Last Season
PER 17.81

Eastern
22-27
Derrick has climbed down from his lofty tower that he was producing to start the year. He was pouring in 30 a night early and that had him near the top of the MIP award at the time. Now though that's down to 24 a game which is still nicely up on his 20 a game as a Portland starter last year. He's still doing all the other stuff and taking the oppositions #1 offensive guy, too, so he's having a great 1st year in Miami.

Desmond Bane

PER 27.85

Last Season
PER 13.87

Eastern
14-33
Bane is an interesting one on this list. He's been better than last year, for sure, but the divide isn't as big as some of the others. He's 5 points per game better, but same rebounds and assists, and his 3pt percentage has fallen off a cliff from 45% on 3.7 attempts to 34% on 9.9. He's trending in the right direction though, and being healthier is a good start.

Josh Giddey

Eastern
8-40
Giddey was a maligned player prior to last year, but he burst onto the scene suddenly firstly for Utah and then for Toronto, but this year has taken it to a whole new level. He's pouring in 19 points a game off the bench largely, with 6 rebounds and 3 assists to boot. He's getting to anywhere he likes on the floor and is right up there for 6th man of the year honours too!

Bogdan Bogdanovic

Weird one this. Ever the tantelising role player that never quite does what you want, Bogdan has found himself on the MIP list this year as he's averaging 21 a night, up from 16 a night last season. He's still doing not alot else and his efficiency is a little down, but Klemm has definitely found a spot for him to pump up some numbers more than ever.

Dennis is an interesting one on this list. has he improved at all? Maybe if you compare the numbers to his Milwaukee numbers....or the Milwaukee numbers brought his season average down last year to the point where he's made the list. In Detroit and Toronto this year though, he's putting up basically the same numbers as last, or maybe even a little less in the assist column. I don't think he's the MIP.

Hello Miles! The man was a Zion trade target originally but wasn't really hitting in the NSL for most of his time here. Last year he was only getting bench minutes in Milwaukee for 11 points a night, and while he then started down the stretch in Dallas, for 17 points a night, it's nothing compared to the 26 he's putting up this year. He dropped 33 a night last week, too, and is trending towards the top of this MIP ladder as he winds into form now that he's healthy!

This man keeps on keeping on in his break out year. He's up 8 points per game, 2 rebounds and 2 assists while also shooting better and bringing more defensive numbers too. Jalen Williams has arrived and it's just in time to pair with Paolo and a breaking out Trey Murphy too. This team is brimming with young talent, and Williams is a gem amongst them.

Williams has come out with a bang to start this year, or at least start HIS year, as he missed weeks before finally debuting. Right now his numbers don't look all that much better than his season averages last year, but that's also with a benched week thrown in. 11 points, 13 rebounds, slightly up. 1.4 steals and 2.2 blocks, way up. 10% better from the field and 20% better from the line too, with half the turnovers. He's legit.

Vassell has been maligned for too long, and this year he's coming out to play. In New York he was a 20 a night guy and he's basically the same in Dallas when you exclude the 4 non-starting games where he wasn't even in the rotation and played single digit minutes because 2k decided to. This is all up from 10 points, 3 boards and 3 assists last year.

Deni Avdija

Deni has been someone a few of us have targeted for a while now with tantelising 2way potential. This year, he finally is showing it. His defence has always been there, but last year he averaged 9 points a game. This year, 16 points as a starter while still putting up that top defensive menace role. Dame needed an offsider and Deni has shown he can be that.
