Its a risky business..
In a world where no-one is safe, there have been a number of trades that have stirred the NSL community. Some GMs find them acceptable, some find them down right awful, and some are wondering how they got past admin. It feels like that Week 9 could not come quicker for some, as the notion of ‘trading’ is now seen as the hottest currency.
As a second year GM, I find it very interesting to see the different tiers of fellow GMs in the league. You have the contenders, the pretenders, the never say die attitude, and the GMs who live for the draft. As one of the latter, it is great to study the field and see the best way to move up the food chain.
Speaking of trades, rumour has it that the marquee player of the Jazz has been notified that his time may be coming to an end with the team. Blake Griffin came across in no brainer move to acquire assets, and he was brought back on his minimal contract which attracted a lot of attention around the league. As a critical figure to the franchise, it was hard to part ways with BG since we brought him back, however as the rebuild continues we must look to the future.
His attitude has always been supreme, his energy, his IQ, his intangible assets. The veteran leadership has been exactly what the rooks of Salt Lake needed to strive, and that they have. We will expect other veterans such as Khem Birch and KCP will step up and fill the void left by Blake on his exit. Blake is rumoured to be headed to a team in the same conference that may fit into that never say die tier of GM. The heartbeat of the NSL could potentially be receiving the heartbeat of the Jazz.
All the best Blake, you will be missed.
