The future is bright in Utah
Some laughed, others cried at the A+ draft rating that the Jazz gave themselves. At first, it was for a bit of a laugh, and mainly because after we picked the guy we wanted at 7, Mr Giddey, we managed to steal 2 high lottery guys in Franz Wagner at 16 (8 in real life) and Chris Duarte at 23 (13 in real life). These three guys have been arguably outperforming their draft day picks and are flourishing in the bright reflections of Salt Lake.
Do not sleep on Kai Jones and Miles McBride who are both easing into their roles with the Jazz. Both are working on their stuff behind the scenes, and as eager as ever to commit to the franchise.
The men of the moment though have the floor. It seems the chemistry between the 3 lottery picks has been developing nicely in the locker room. Giddey, Wagner and Duarte are as close as it gets. They do wonder how so many other GMs could have passed on them.
Giddey, known for his luscious locks and sleek passes is actually a man of taste. Don’t let the fro fool you, he likes to enjoy a glass of Grenache and a breadstick by the fire most nights and turns up some Jamiroquai. Seriously great band.
Wagner, not really sure what he is known for. His crisp German accent is to die for, too pity his goatee sucks. A born leader though, and loving who the GM has put around him so far.
Duarte, known for his age has donned the cliche of ageing like a fine wine. His impact in the NBA has been from day one and Utah love the fact they got a top 7 player from the draft at 23. For those GM’s asking about Duarte already, you better get your cheque book ready.
The Jazz are happy, the fans are happy, Franz’s goatee is happy. The future is bright and after a fullest rebuild, there might be some jaw dropping moves left to come in week 9. Watch this space. Go Jazz.
