Some of the countless unread messages of love, concern and adoration left for Smooth K while he stepped away from the league after a horrific and very public fall right at the finish line to end last seasons efforts... A loss which put the nail in the proverbial coffin that is a season best left remembered as "The one to be forgotten"...
It felt good to wind down and let go of last seasons frustrations and short comings. I was also more then happy to not be involved in the inevitable blow back from months and months of insufferable trash talk that was in the end, so far away from being backed up in any sense it's not even funny...
One thing is for sure. This game is no where near as predictable as it once was and it will take going to another level for the Kings to once again be a household name instead of a league wide laughing stock. The Kings front office made 28 trades in the 2020-21 NSL season, involving 56 players including the likes of, of course... Lebron/Middeton/Siakam/Oladipo/DeAndre Jordan/Clarkson/Holmes/Noel/Bledsoe/Harrison Barnes/Joe Ingles/Bogdanovic/Cousins/Fournier/Joe Harris/Ross/Milsap and more...339 total GM points were generated to feed the machine that is the Kings Trade Express...
Sure there's some deals in there I wish I could have back.... But also a fair few I'm both proud of being able to pull off, due to the amount of work and hours involved with all the moving pieces, but also was grateful and joyous they allowed me to connect with a few GM's I've never had the honor of conversing with up until now. Because in the end that's what I get most out of this league outside scratching that overwhelming competitive itch... The Bants and Ball chats, the friendships, the conflict and rivalry, the problem solving and thinking on the fly.... Everything.
Much to everyone's delight I'm sure, the Trade Express as finally pulled out and left the station and is slowly gathering speed for another "go around" the mountain. For those with a finger on the pulse would've seen the latest deal to acquire Dragic for Ross in a deal that just made sense for both teams positionally. It's well documented the Kings intend to bring back TJ McConnell but Dragic is that savy veteran guard who rounds out the rotation and gives us options going forward. Barton and Fournier seem to be high on the priority list this FA but there are some rumors swirling of a possible sign and trade deal with a few teams in the works... Marcus Morris from the Cavs seems to be gaining some traction....
