Signs of life in Utah?

Who would have thought, a couple of wins in Salt Lake… No I am not making this up. As many of the elite ‘tankers’ are fighting out for who can get that elusive number one pick in the upcoming draft, Utah may have simply said ‘Fuck it! Lets win some games.’

It starts with the players. In Kevin Love’s 16 games for Utah this season, he has averaged 15.4 PPG, 11.1 Rebounds and a steal to round out percentages of 51% from the field, 42% from downtown and 97% from the line. Safe to say Kevin has injected some much needed energy back in the locker room.

Bojan Bogdanovic is averaging 16.9 PPG, 3.4 Rebounds and 1.8 Assists to go along with percentages of 38% from the field, an incredible 47% from beyond the arc at 3.7 threes a game and 95% from the charity stripe. These two have provided a pulse for the Jazz that may still have something left to prove moving towards the pointy end of the season.

With 2 wins in the last 4 against some strong opposition, it seems that some things may be starting to click. A shock to the system was a 5 point win over New Orleans, who are currently sitting 5th in the league with a record of 42 and 16. A 33 - 15 second quarter really helping the Jazz control the game from then. Followed by a 36 point win against a somewhat beat up Philadelphia team still missing the messiah, Mr LeBron James. Utah won every quarter and never looked like slowing down.

With such emphatic wins in week 14, it still remains to be seen if this was a lucky week for the Jazz or whether this sort of effort is still sustainable. All we know for sure is that with the trade deadline around the corner, Utah could be looking drastically different over the coming days if they decide to pull the trigger on some big moves.

I will say this though, it does feel good to see some W’s next to a team that has seen their share or L’s over the season.
