Here We Go....Again!
Another year, another chance at redemption. This being the redemption to an ever faulty thought process that your team, the soul to your being, is at an apex and has every expectation and want to become more than an also-ran....but a champion!
This is the dilemma most in the greatest city in Texas have to endure. The people in Dallas deserve more. They deserve a year-in, year-out championship caliber team to which the likes of no NSL team has ever encountered. And, this year, they may have found such a one.
We first start by including the Mavericks and especially their general manager LJ Maverick did nothing this offseason. You read that correctly. They did NOTHING! All what was done for this season to be successful was already in play last season. The Kevin Durant trade sparked much talk on the NSL forums, the city of Dallas and the entire league worldwide. The brought over Durant, Kelly Oubre and their own first round pick which later was traded for Buddy Hield last season. The thought process on letting go of Seth Curry and the pick was that the draft was one of the weaker drafts in recent memory. That and coupled with the fact that the team still had their holdover rookie in Chuma Okeke from the last draft made the decision that much easier.
The team will boast what is considered one of arguably best starting fives in the NSL. The lineup includes: Kristaps Porzingis, Kevin Durant, Kelly Oubre, Buddy Hield and Fred VanVleet with Dennis Schroder, Cameron Johnson and Chuma Okeke off the bench. Undoubtedly, the team has some shortcomings in relation to their bench depth. This may cause them to falter in some games where the opposition is better matched. The hindrance now is the luxury tax being paid for such a robust collection of talent. The management has already gone on record that they are willing to pay whatever it takes to bring the elusive championship.
