The Hottest of Hands

The Hot Hand

Devin. Armani. Booker.

A name so smooth it rolls off the tongue, a jumper so smooth it barely touches the net and handles so slick defenders end up playing like they are on roller blades.

Booker is the jewel of this young Washington roster and since the arrival of Capela, albeit in a small sample size, our young shooting guard has put up 32 points, 5.6 assists and 4 rebounds on 50/49/100. This isn’t so much of a hot hand but more like going supernova, inciting images of Johnny Storm running up and down the court at certain times.

Like our very own sun, everything on the court for the wizards revolves around Booker with Coach Brooks often overheard screaming at his players to “make sure touches the ball at least once on every offensive possession”. Booker is one of the hardest working players in the league and has focused this season on being a vocal leader on this young team which is a good sign for his growth and maturity.

We think Devin has only just started to scratch at the surface of his potential with him focusing on improving his defence in the off season and it shows with him going from a below average defender to an average defender. The continual improvement he has shown season to season has been quite astounding and leaves the Wizards brass believing wholeheartedly that Booker is not done growing and will be a genuine MVP candidate for years to come and will lead the Wizards to the promised land in the very near future.

Positional versatility is something the Wizards are big on and Booker embodies that being able to play 3 positions comfortably, point guard, shooting guard and small forward. He can play with the ball in his hands for a majority of the game but can also play off ball and run through screens and splash jumpers all game with limited time with ball in hand, a style versatility that is rare amongst even the NSL elite.

We are excited to put our teams future on Bookers tanned and sculptured shoulders and believe we are a team on the rise much like our future MVP, Devin. Armani. Booker.
