New Nets, No Need For Negativity
The Brooklyn Nets say Goodbye to three players that while
short-lived at the organisation, left an impact on the team and community at
large.
The biggest name of all being Kyrie Irving. In his time at
the Brooklyn Nets, Kyrie managed to amass averages of.
An elite guard player, whichever team he were to play on. He
now joins Luka Doncic (his fellow Dallas Maverick) on the New Orleans Pelicans.
Creating one of the most frightening duos in all of the NSL.
This was the ultimate goal in Brooklyn, as stated by GM Breece at a recent press
conference.
We had high hopes for
the two of them to create a partnership that would be a three-year minimum
combination after our decision to move from Khris (Middleton). As the season
progressed it became apparent that he (Kyrie) wasnt going to be on the court with
Jamal (Murray) as much as we would have liked. Almost as though his mental game
wasnt in Brooklyn, and we decided to part ways.
In making this adjustment to the roster, Brooklyn were also
in a position where they needed to let Daniel Theis and Nickiel
Alexander-Walker go as well. Both incredibly stable role players for the team.
With these out-going players, the Nets organisation has a golden opportunity to
welcome in other players in that same age bracket and trajectory.
The Nets were able to secure Brandon Ingram, Dereck Lively
II, Kelly Oubre, and Bobby Portis.
Four names that can instantly start for the Brooklyn Nets,
and will make an immediate impact on the team at large.
Ingram enters as fringe all-star prospect and in tandem with
Lauri Markkanen could develop as one of the most feared combinations in the NSL.
Since the loss of Andre Drummond at the inception of the
NSL, the Brooklyn Nets have searched for their starting franchise center with
multiple players attempting to be that guy.
Lively makes me and
the team very excited. The coaching staff and I agree that he has all the
tenets and hallmarks of a player that can lead us for many years to come. And
we enter the upcoming draft without that lingering over our heads. We have
coverage. We havent had that for many years.
High praise from GM Breece.
The collection of players now allows for a renaissance in
Brooklyn, and the Nets Nation should be excited for the years ahead as the framework
is set for brighter and more secure seasons for a long time.
