The old saying "It’s going to be a long year" is not and wont ring true for the New York Knicks this season. 20 Games in and the team are sitting a horrendous 3-17, but the team aren’t too worried as they will just ride the waves as they come.

For the Knicks, it is not about the wins this year but more about the growth of the individual and who is going to be sticking around long term for the franchise. Call it an audition if you will to see "who has it."

The front office will not keep any secrets throughout this rebuild, there is and has been a clear blue print so far and things aren’t likely to change anytime soon.

The most likely scenario for the Knicks moving forward is gaining salary cap flexibility, and draft assets. The team have completed a few trades by adding DeAnthony Melton and Trey Lyles which will assist with this moving forward.

The team is also open to looking at scenarios where they would add a winning piece to the fold to place around the likes of RJ Barrett and Jaden Mcdaniels. The team would love to hold on to guys like Austin Reaves, Josh Giddey, their rookies etc, but know that this just isn’t possible. "Nothing is off the table." Smokey said.

Devin Vassell has been identified as the likely odd man out. He is the piece that would help facilitate the above, but things are progressing slowly for the front office in negotiations. "We have had talks with multiple teams and Devin’s management, but nothing has clicked just yet." Smokey said. "We are open minded about a return for Devin, whether that is for the now, or the future."

Josh Giddey has been a guy that has really impressed this season. Although, still scared and unwilling to play his natural point guard position, he has shown the ability needed to run the team moving forward. There have been multiple enquiries about a potential Giddey move, other gm’s have identified that his point guard eligibility is not far off, but the Knicks are still unsure about what that looks like.

Moving forward, the Knicks front office will stay busy as the deadline approaches. Nothing is set in stone at this time, but the phone lines are always open. Standing pat is also not off the table, as the team feel like they have a good range of draft selections this season, as well as a good bunch of players to build the team around.
