2ks blatant disrespect
Usually I am one to keep quiet and just let the game do the talking when it comes to my team, however when it comes to this topic the game can't do the talking when 2k do not give you the tools to do it. This article we will talk about Jarrett Allen the Cavs favorite son. Jarrett Allen since he arrived in the league has been an elite rim protector and elite offensive rebounder and also one of the most efficient at the rim finishers in the NBA. (Check the stats before you leave a comment and read about Allen's historic NBA season/career to this point)
Allen as of now in the NBA only according to analytics not the media driven MVP (which is unfortunate because they vote for narrative and don't care for the advanced stats) I just want to make sure this gets across that this is only the analytics ladder Allen has been at 6th, 8th, 10th in the MVP tracker this season. He's elite in offensive and defensive win shares. He's 2nd in the league in true shooting percentages and 8th in the NBA in terms of plus/minus. The Cavaliers have the 2nd best defense in the league when Allen is on the floor. Jarrett is also currently having a historic season, no one in history has made 70% of their shots while shooting 10 or more shots per game. Allen is this season the 2nd best big in the East and making a strong case for his first all star appearance as well as in the running for most improved.
This is where we talk about 2ks disrespect, when Allen is defending the rim opponents shoot a measly 50.3% at the rim seventh best in the NBA for those that have defended at least 100 shots in that area. Allen currently does not have an intimidator badge and only holds a bronze rim protector, for comparison Clint Capela who is currently averaging the same amount of blocks per game at 1.5 holds a silver intimidator and silver rim protector. Jarrett Allen is and has been one of the top offensive rebounders in the league throughout his career is currently at 3.4 per game, guys only just ahead of him like Robert Williams in 2k currently has an 87 offensive rebound rating and gold rebound badges compared to Allen who is a measly 78 up from 72 only in the most recent update and only holds a bronze rebound chasing badge and bronze worm. Allen to end 2k21 was an 88 offensive and defensive rebounder but he's better at both this year so why are his attributes worse?
Allen also being one of the most efficient finishers in the NBA and this season in history has got a 95 close shot rating however does not finish shots in 2k as he should, he's constantly bothered by switched PGs and cant back them down or finish with his back to the basket over them even though he's currently 2nd in the NBA in back to the basket efficiency the guys behind him are LeBron, Durant and Jimmy Buckets.
We can only hope 2k pick up the slack and maybe give the guys their due but we all know better than that. Hopefully a rebuilt Allen comes in 2k23 where he can actually be a dominant offensive and defensive force. In the mean time we will be doing everything we can in the sim room to try and make Allen not a traffic cone on defense and actually chase the boards like he should be.
